    • Awesome Shower Doors!
These doors are both impressive to look at, and of high quality construction. They certainly cost a pretty penny, but we are glad we choose these over models that are a quarter of the price. The shower door glides very smoothly along the top rail with minimal effort, and there are brakes/stops to prevent any chance of slamming the door open or shut and damaging it. The glass is thick and free of bubbles or imperfections. Now, all that said, there are some downsides to these doors. Because they are so great looking, and because they will become the focal point of your bathroom, you'll want to keep them clean looking. If your water has any hardness at all, this means taking a squeegee and towel to them after EVERY USE. This is quite a commitment. We've managed to make it part of our routine for the last month, and I think we'll stick with it, but it's definitely not for everybody. According to the instructions these were supposed to be installed by a licensed professional. We didn't look into finding a licensed Vigo shower door installation expert, if such people exist, and installed it ourselves. This was not difficult, but a little tricky for a number of reasons. First, the instructions aren't as clear as they could be. For example, they don't point out that you'll need to put the sliding door inside the shower enclosure before installing the fixed panel. Maybe this is common sense to everyone else, but we just followed the instructions sequentially, and halfway through the installation, we found we had to take everything back down. Also, the doors weigh about 80 pounds each and they are massive, so you can't do this on your own. Bear in mind that the supporting bar, which takes all the weight of the sliding door, must be attached to the house framing, which in our case was behind the tile of the shower wall. You'll need special drill bits to drill through tile. A quick word about Wayfair; they offered free shipping (a big plus) and used YRC to ship the doors. When I called YRC to ask about the delivery details, they told me that it would be my responsibility to get the shower doors off the truck. I was surprised, and unsure if we'd be able to do it (shipping weight was 250 lbs). However, the YRC deliveryman removed the doors on a pallet using a lift system and then offered to wheel the pallet into our garage. We were very impressed with his customer service, and glad that he wasn't literal about the terms of delivery. ... show more

This door is heavy duty and glides perfect - it is a wonderful addition to our home and we expect it to last for decades. Just installed it last week and the fit and finish were nice and the installation went smoothly. the bonus here is how easy these folks are to do business with. I somehow received two instead of one door and and needed to return the second. I don't know where the mistake was made, but they took care of it without question and very quickly - sending a truck to pick up within a few days. I was expecting a finger point as to who made the mistake, but to my surprise got none. And the credit was quick. Nice job !! ... show more

    • Beautiful sturdy door - tricky to install

I love the look of this. It is beautiful. It is very sturdy and well made. The slide seems very nice. I hired a professional (after booking installation through Amazon and having that cancelled by Amazon. Apparently, no one in my area was willing to install it for that price). It took our professional installer 6 hours because our walls were so out of alignment. It is horizontal at the top but it ended up that the horizontal plane from bottom to top was misaligned Cush that the top of the shower door leaned into the shower. This messed up the way the door functioned. Our installer fiddled and futzed until her got the door to roil smoothly. The door now won’t stay open and slowly rolls shut in its own. That’s much better than the alternative. I bought the door because of high reviews for quality and fully agree. I also bought it because it has out of plumb alignment on both sides. After searching around and reading many reviews on many doors we finally decided on this shower door and could not be happier. This is one heavy, high quality, beautiful sliding glass door. If you are looking for a "WOW" door for your shower then this is the one. The rest of my review will cover the install. I consider myself an above average DIYer as I did the entire shower project myself...except for the door install which required my two sons to help. The engineering tolerances are very tight, even to the point that some of the clear plastic washers would not even fit. My recommendation is to plan the door install to take 4-5 hours, measure everything 2-3 times and be very careful cutting the top bar. Any mistakes there and you will be ordering a new one. The end caps adjust enough, 1/2-3/4" each so you can get the bar in place and lined up with the holes in the glass, just use some logic and you will figure it out. I think we read the instructions 10 times but we finally figured it out. Put the cut bar on the stationary glass and set it in place in the shower opening, level it, mark your spots for the mounting brackets and then you can get your holes drilled. Once we got that part figured out the project went quickly. Again, we did our own install, if you have any doubts then hire someone! ... show more
