Great read and informative for non Navy types , I too was a ND and went to school with Master Diver Garcia. Coronado was no joke!!! 10 mile runs in calf deep soft sand, bay swim, running with Bertha the 12 inch towing line that weighed a hundred pounds of foot when soaked. The whole time the instructors grilling drilling killing you 6am-6pm Then after graduation, the sights and adventures you embark on can be once in a lifetime experience Thanks MDV for a solid book and trip down memory lane.     • Memoirs of a Master Diver
This won't be indicated as a "Verified Purchase" from Amazon because I bought the book directly from the author. He paints a fascinating picture of a lesser-known part of the Navy, that of the diver. Not only does the author describe events in a "we were there" fashion, but he also elaborates on his climb to the top of the enlisted ladder in the Navy. I bought this book with one expectation but found a "bonus" of contents regarding his views on the leadership of subordinates throughout his career. This would make good "required reading" for midshipmen and cadets as an example of what proper leadership should be. I'm glad I met the author and purchased his book. ... show more
