This was bought as a gift for a backup sewing machine. Months later we used it for the first time. The very first few stitches on a pillow case the needle SHATTERED and blew apart. I have never had that happened before. I have had broken needles but this one was under such strain that it blew apart into at least three pieces and I heard one plink across the room. After replacing the needle and rethreading the machine I started another pillow case. I got one simple stitch line done but I kept hearing a "thunk" of metal on plastic. When I started the second case, the needle jammed and bowed outward, it was about to blow apart again. I disassembled the machine and used the last needle it came with. Without turning the machine on I dry ran the machine manually and saw the needle was at an angle when it was fully down. The whole needle/thread assembly was slightly skewed. When the needle was at the highest point, and easiest to thread, it looked aligned with the foot. This explains the shattered needle, the thunking sounds, and the bending needle(s). The machine was hitting itself when the needle fully went down. This photo shows the angle of the bent assembly. There is no needle in the machine currently and I removed the thread holder to show just the bent part.

had to return. its a nice unit but lacks the ability to sew slightly thicker material. tried to sew some decorative pillow cases. It would work for a good solid 2 inches but then the string would break seemed the plastic gears on the inside would catch the string and pinch it int the gear causing it to not thread. it would only sew the included sample patch of cloth that came with it.

The machine is great but the bobbins that are sortve a free gift with the machine almost broke it several times. Otherwise 5 stars for a "mini sewing machine" . I will never use a prespun bobbin again ever.. you can spin them yourself with the machine so just do that!

This machine is for very light use. Maybe mine is a defect but it does not stitch at all after two uses. Buy something else.

Nice and easy to use. However, We could only get through about 10-20 stitches before it would snap the thread. Originally we thought it was user error, but We tried 3 different types and brands of thread…this issue also caused multiple needles to snap and break. Friends been seeing for 30 yrs had same issues. Brother LX3817 is the same price, better quality, no issues.

Ordered just to hem a bed flat sheet (thin). Needle broken upon using it out of the box. The arm that pulls the thread is actually bent causing it to get stuck into the machine when using (or try to). Save yourself the hassle and spend the money to get a real machine. This sews nothing, not even a thin flat sheet, (unless maybe you’re lucky enough to get a none broken machine).
