I have bought this 16 x 16 x 8 box to house the VFD inside my workshop. The size is just right and it will do the job. However the description is inaccurate or plain wrong in many areas. I am writing this review to provide people with the correct information - the task, which the seller failed to do. First of all - the dimensions. I had a hard time to decide if my VFD will fit based on the description and questions and answers. So here are my measurements. The box opening is 14 x 14". The back plate is 13.75 x 13.75 x .070". The depth from the back plate to the box lip is 7.0" plus rubber seal has some thickness, so I feel the 7.2" high device will fit. The bottom opening for the gland plate is 2 x 6.75". The box and the door are about .062" thick and the gland plate is .065" thick. This is with paint, so the initial claim of 1.5 mm material (.059") is correct. The total weight of the enclosure is 9800 g. The box is welded and it is quite rigid. The back side of it is not quite flat - it rocks on a flat surface. There is no any indication on a box that it is NEMA 4X rated. To get such rating the box has to provide protection against windblown dust, hose directed water and corrosion. Some included hardware has sealing O-rings, but they are used in a way, which would not stop the ingress of water. Other hardware does not have any sealing provisions. Door hinges can rust over time. The included hanging brackets and bolts are stainless steel, but I will use a direct bolting through the back of the box. The door lock is really not a lock, but a device to keep the door closed and limit the ingress of water. The 2 included keys are very light and are most likely made from nickel plated aluminum - they are sufficient to operate the lock. The lock can be opened with any appropriate tool - 2 screwdrivers will do it. If you need to lock the enclosure, replace the lock. But now you have to think about possible water coming in. The included 1 page instruction is wrong and useless. You have to find your own way of mounting the enclosure to the wall. The box comes with hinges on the left side. There are 2 holes on the right side of the box for hinges, if you decide to hang the door there. They are plugged with plastic plugs. This enclosure is perfectly fine for my workshop, but I would think twice before using it outside in the weather. The real 4X enclosure I also have is made out of stainless steel and constructed very differently from this one. It is much more expensive of course.

The price is right but remember it's sheet metal. Even though the product was completely wrapped in 1/2" styrofoam it doesn't take much of a hit during shipping to cause damage as happened to my panel. Thankfully it's not terminal. I'm hoping my review is read by the vendor and they will compensate me a bit for my trouble. On a complimentary note the coating on this panel appears to be of excellent quality. Time will tell but upon arrival appears to be very nice.
