  • Works Well for RV
Size: 8gal Upgraded Panel
This works Well. Make sure you orient connections correctly. If pipes do not feed out of the top of the water heater, you will get bubbles in the tank and it will not work correctly. Bleed the air out of the tank during setup. This is very important because you can damage your heating element and the water heater will not work correctly if not orientated right. Improper installation will prevent water from being heated. Additionally, it is a good idea to use some GE 30 minute silicone to seal threads for the emergency valve. Pipe tape did not work for us even with repeated application. The pipe and valve were brass, but took enormous force at install to tighten down with one person sitting on the heater and another turning a large pipe wrench. Even so until we used GE 30 minute liquid silicone we had leaks several times. It would drip from the pipe. This was more than frustrating. We spent hours trying to seal the slow drip away. The silicone was what finally accomplished a solution. When the heater is turned up all of the way, be careful of scalding risk. This thing works really great and gets very, very hot. Do not turn it to max without using caution and advising all other users you have done so. We keep ours turned up about 75-80 percent. I bought mine to cut grease and wash dishes on a grey water connection. It more than does the job. For showering, you need to be quick. You'll only get about 5 minutes of hot water even with a mix of hot and cold in an RV on a 2 gallon per minute shower head. You need to get an instant water heater if you want longer showers. My 30 amp RV could not support a larger heater because they require dedicated breakers. This one plugs into a 15 amp extension cord. I recommend a 10/3 extension cord or plugging into a three-prong female wall plug for power. If you are on a 30 amp power box, you need to run a seperate power cord on 10/3 Guage if you want to run any other major appliances such as a heater or air conditioner at the same time because the load may be too much if both are plugged in directly in a 30 amp rv. My box only supports 12 amps so I cheat by plugging my 10/3 cables into a 50 amp splitter at the power hookup to power EACH air conditioner, heater, water heater, and water hose heater. Miraculously this arrangement works and is sustainable. I purchased overload protection for the box outside to insure if an overload occurs the utility hookup at the box outside in the park is not what melts. I used this water heater in a popup camper with plans to build in a shower for interior and exterior. It was a learning process that made us better a plumbing. I recommend using flexible water lines instead of metal or PVC if installing in an RV due to the risk of freezing weather and cracking pipes if you forget to winterize. It's better to use fresh water supply hoses for drinking water than a standard water hose. Pressure test your hoses and watch for leaks in the days following installation as sometimes hoses will leak or burst. Defective products happen. We had to replace a brand new hose when we installed ours. It sucks but it happens. The hoses are not included. Overall, I highly recommend this product. ... show more

Complete garbage!!!! I’ve been doing plumbing work for 20 years. Could not get any of the three connections to stop leaking! Broke multiple fittings that were hand tight only fittings!! Used channel locks to slow leak until they broke as well. No way this thing was factory pressure tested! Complete junk!!! ... show more

  • Decent Temporary Hot Water Solution
Size: 8gal Upgraded Panel
Arrived undamaged and when installed worked perfectly. Heats water pretty quickly and I am able to take a quick shower -- which was the plan. I am in the middle of a renovation and have plans to install a tankless water heater to replace the old 40 gallon low boy that currently takes up space under the counter in the kitchen. In order to do that I need to upgrade the electrical system to 200 amps. I didn't realize how costly the power upgrade would be so I am saving up. In the meantime the old 40 gallon sprung a leak (of course, right? haha). Well, I didn't want to buy another 40 gallon hot water heater and spend all kinds of money on that for the short term. I live alone, so this was a perfect solution. My only complaint would be that, considering that they recommend draining the unit frequently to rid it of sediment, that they have a drain valve at the bottom. In the instructions they instruct you to disconnect the unit from the water lines, tip upside down, drain, reconnect, etc. etc. That's a pretty mundane monthly (per instructions) chore considering when full it weighs 100 pounds when full of water. Not to mention, that the unit requires a blow off valve be installed just like a full size hot water heater. That's my only suggestion though. The price point was perfect and the unit works great. Thank you. ... show more

  • Need plumber potty
Size: 8gal Upgraded Panel
The product’s good heated water fine still have a leak. The thread seem like that are cut a little deep for the threads so you have to use extra Teflon tape and dope to go on it. It doesn’t work with just Teflon tape.
