  • No harsh odor, made our butcher block counters look so beautiful
Size: Quart Color: Satin
This product was very easy to use. We stained our butcher block counters with a water based stain, and then used a sponge brush to apply 3 coats of sealer, with light sanding and 24 hour drying time in between. We used the satin finish sealer and it looks perfect, makes our butcher block counters look super high end. Will forever use a natural sealant from now on, and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Excellent Product!
Size: Quart Color: Satin
I am extremely happy with the Vermont Natural Coating - Poly Whey Furniture Finish - Clear Satin. I am remodeling our office in Beetle Kill Pine and am making custom cabinets for within. My shop is in my unheated barn and it is dusty and not conducive for finishing. This product allows me to finish the cabinets indoors without running everyone out of the house. Virtually no smell. What VERY little smell that is present is actually not unplesant. I followed directions with three coats and lightly sanded with 320 grit after the first coat. Beautiful! You do need to apply as directed not leaving a dry edge to paint to within a coat. Fast drying (I do live in an arid/semi arid climate - Front Range Colorado). Cleans up extremely easy with water and a little dish soap (I used Dawn). This really is a great product and worth the little extra money. Don't hesitate. ... show more

  • Ideal natural sealant for baby furniture or any eating surface - virtually no smells or fumes!
Size: Quart Color: Satin
I chose to use this instead of a typical sealant or shellac because I wanted a more natural alternative since I was painting an antique high chair. This is a really great sealant. I know it is a bit pricey compared to what you can buy at Home Depot, but it had very little smell. I used it inside because of how high the humidity was when I painted, and it left no smell in the house. It goes on very smoothly and easily. It suggests 3 coats for the best seal and suggests a light sanding in between coats for the best adhesion. The dry time is only 2 hours and then they suggest a week for the sealant to really cure well. I am very happy with how it turned out and the satin finish left a nice sheen on it without looking too glossy. And I feel great about our baby eating off of it and know it will last a long time. ... show more

  • Excellent quality, psy premium for low VOC
Size: Quart Color: Semi-Gloss
Produces a beautiful, mirror-smooth surface on soft and hardwoods (I’ve applied to pine, oak, and sapele). Leaves no brush marks. Three coats are probably sufficient for well-prepared surfaces, though I apply many more out of habit. Odor is low but definitely present for a day or so. It’s pricier than the toxic common alternatives but I’m happy to pay the difference as a long-term investment in health. ... show more

  • Easy to apply, gave a satin finish to a dining table
Size: Quart Color: Satin
Used the poly whey on an industrial style dining table. The finish of the table is very rustic and unfinished and I was nervous about anything being spilled on it. The poly whey was easy to apply and I used three coats. It did leave a satiny finish, which is ok with me, but it did change the look of the table. ... show more

  • Great for Spraying
Size: Quart Color: Satin
This poly works great with a good hvlp turbine. It flashes off pretty fast so it's not awesome for brushing but it's great for spraying. If you intend to brush your finish then the polywhey floor finish is a better choice because the floor finish has superior self leveling properties. If you must brush a vertical surface then the furniture finish is a decent option because it's less likely to sag than the floor finish. Polywhey furniture finish is a good looking clear finish that won't enhance the grain or yellow over time. You can pop the grain with gf seal a cell prior to applying the polywhey or you can impart some amber and depth with a seal coat of garnett shellac. Water clean up and low voc means that you can brush or tbar these products in an occupied house. Highly recommended for spraying architectural millwork and furniture. ... show more

  • LOVE this stuff!
Size: Quart Color: Semi-Gloss
I knew I wanted butcher block counters but also knew I wouldn’t be the best to keep up with oiling. I used three coats (I found a brush went on better than a roller) and feel super confident my wood won’t rot. Liquids just bead up on top. The end result is totally clear and didn’t change the wood color. It dried in the two hours they said and I only sanded after the first coat. Almost no smell. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. One and a half cans was enough for three coats top and bottom of two twelve feet pieces of butcher block (one with a sink hold cut out though). I’m throughly happy and will be using this for other projects around the house from now on! ... show more

  • Dries quickly, easy, safe, not fully waterproof
Size: Quart Color: Semi-Gloss
I used this on a butcher block counter I had installed in a high end rental home that was new 18 months ago and at the time I sealed with Butcher Block oil, which was a cimplete waste of time and money as it provided zero protrction from water or food stains. With limited time between tenants I tried this, due to low dry time and non-toxicity. It goes on like a thinned Elmers Glue, milky. It has a satin sheen. The downside is it is not really waterproof, according the company - you can soften it back up with soap and water after the cure time. Be aware when masking surrounding areas that pulling off the masking will pull off the finish in sheets, so you will need to cut it with a straight edge to limit how much is pulled off with the tape. ... show more
