Where has this been all my life? I've never owned a veggie chopper like this, although I've seen them advertised. I have a regular grater, and a food processor I never go to the trouble of getting out anymore. No electricity required! There is a learning curve. Make sure you have the correct side up when inserting the little cutting panels. I had the dull side up the first time and thought it didn't work! I finally figured out to turn it over and zip zip - the potato went right through. I used the larger inserts to make vegetable beef soup yesterday. You do need to prepare your veggies first by washing and cutting them into workable size pieces. For potatoes, I found it works best to cut them into at least 4 slices (not quartered unless they're too big to fit within the slicing grid area). My slice were about 1" thick. I cut carrots into about 4 pieces; the onion I quartered, and the celery I cut each rib into 4 pieces. Once you prepare the veggies, processing through the grid piece by piece goes fast - and I love the uniform cuts. I also grated cheese on top (separate process) with the medium-size grater for a casserole. All in all, I really like this vegetable chopper and slicer. Make sure you always use the glove that comes with it for holding any foods you will be chopping or grating. I haven't tried the other accessories yet (avocado holder, etc.). I ordered this to cut down my food prep time: I like to prep my snacks and lunches when I work in-office (not that often) and also to keep healthy snacks on hand so I'm not tempted to grab something that isn't so figure-friendly. This works great and has so many features. I used the larger chopper grid to slice carrots: Yes, you have to prep the vegetables by cutting them into a reasonable size before chopping them with this, but after that, the tedious cutting is all done with this chopper. I can also add that yes, it's sharp - I thought I had a paper cut this morning and then realized it's where I pressed down too hard on the bladed grid without the included protective glove. My fault. With this I can slice cucumbers, julienne carrots, spiralize zucchini for zucchini noodles (instead of carb-loading with pasta), chopping veggies for soups, and I can't wait to see how much faster I can make salsa now, when my salsa garden comes in this summer. This also comes with an egg separator, and a peeler, and a couple of tools for cleaning the chopper as well. The bin is clear plastic, and also holds another colander-like drain basket. Clean-up was simple enough, and I was able to store the pieces back inside of the bin, and what didn't fit, I was able to store back in the box after putting the unit back in the box. This chopper/slicer is like an all-in-one solution for meal prep. It has so many attachments it's almost intimidating but I am committed to trying to get more produce into my diet and this makes that much easier. I can have been able to eliminate more processed foods out of my kitchen by using this to slice, dice, spiral cut, or otherwise prepare produce and I feel much better. I did learn the pieces should be cleaned promptly after use to eliminate any sticking, but otherwise I've very happy. This little chopper speaks for itself. It's pretty sturdy and the blades are nice and strong. It works wonders on potatoes, onions, tomatoes, just about anything and it cleans up nicely in the dishwasher. I think the best part of this is that you can store everything inside so it doesn't take up a whole lot of room. I think this is perfect for small spaces especially apartment spaces. ... show more
