I don't usually take the time to write a review, but this dog house is amazing. I was searching for something enclosed yet well-ventilated, with a view out. This house is perfect for indoor use. Our little one absolutely adores it! She was a rescue, so she appreciates the feeling of safety it offers. There was an issue with one of the pieces of wood, but the company quickly resolved it. I highly recommend this adorable house, which we purchased for our little chihuahua mix. It is larger than some others, but that is what we were looking for! This thing is big -- genuinely, generously roomy -- but somehow doesn't just become a visual black hole in your living space, which is a harder balance to strike than it sounds. The structure is simple, screw-together friendly (just double check that you're putting the velcro on the right side), and easy to disassemble, which is a real bonus for anyone who moves frequently. The unfinished wood is also a selling point if you're the type to customize: I'm already planning a restain, and the base design is flexible enough to fit a ton of aesthetics. The fabric panels are where I have mixed feelings. The gray isn't my thing texturally, and it reads a little cheap, but the design is so straightforward (no curves, clean edges) that making your own covers or draping a nice blanket over the frame is completely viable. More importantly, the perforated fabric does not let claws or teeth through! My cat (Otto) and I played hard with it and I couldn't feel a thing from the other side, which is genuinely impressive. The perforations do make the interior a bit dim, but paired with the enclosed shape, it lands more cozy than claustrophobic. A couple of honest notes for a $90 bed: the wood is solid, but visibly scrap-sourced. You can see toothy seams on some beams, most of which get covered by the bed insert or fabric. Otto immediately tried to gnaw on it (texture gremlin, don't ask), and you can barely see the marks, so it's holding up well. The bed insert itself is soft without being heat-trapping, which matters for long-haired pets. My cat famously prefers cardboard over a pillow, and he approved. A meaningful endorsement. If you have a larger cat who likes to sprawl while feeling secure, don't let the "dog house" label scare you off. Otto is over 12 lbs and still a kitten, and he can fully stretch out and flip around without any risk of tumbling out. He planted himself on the wooden base while I was still mid-assembly, so the verdict was immediate. Would also work beautifully as balcony furniture (just seal the wood first). Obligatory cat tax!
