5 Stars is based upon value, which means, for $100 bucks this is a great value. First, a few items. ONE ITEM THAT IS IMPORTANT: In my experience, these imported products with assembly required have a "GOLDEN RULE:" Do not, under any circumstances tighten any screws, nuts, bolts, etc. by more than finger tight as you are moving along! This is stated in the instructions, as usual. Heed the instructions. If you don't, you're looking for trouble. On this particular item I would also (if you don't have one already) spend a couple of bucks and go out and get a 4mm Allen Key and or an Allen Key bit for your 1/4 inch ratchet or screw driver handle. The 4mm Allen Key is included (x2), but, I didn't use them as they are almost always JUNK and you'll wind up stripping something. BE CAREFUL CUTTING OPEN THE PACKAGE! The packing is fine, but you could easily damage the "wood" parts with a box cutter. The hardware comes nicely labeled on a card, which is a time saver, and came with a few extras, which was nice. A couple of the screws were not perfect, so the extras were great...almost like they know the failure rate. If you're having trouble with a screw, pick up another one, and move on. Do NOT force a bad screw!! All the hardware was also labeled nicely. All this having been said, assembly was accomplished in 1 hour and 40 minutes from thinking about it, to having it completed and tightened up by myself. It is tight, stable, and sturdy enough for all but the most acrobatic things people might do on a bed. The mattress is a 12 inch Zinus used in a spare room. Happy with the item and the VALUE. It's not a $3,000 piece of heirloom furniture, but does what you're probably buying it for and that might include disposing of it when you move out of your first apartment. ... show more

Really good bed set. Looks great and isn’t super bulky which is what I was looking for. Easy to set up and instructions were simple. Only took me around 20 minutes to set up. My only thing that I would suggest and to keep in mind is any thicker than 12” mattress will cover part of the head board. In fact 12” is probably pushing it. I put a 14” mattress on it and it is too thick. The bed holds it fine, it just doesn’t look as good probably. The other thing is it slides very easy. I suggest putting some Velcro down(not provided) to help keep the mattress in place. Great for storage underneath the bed as well. ... show more

Perfect, pretty easy to assemble and I did alone, though it might've been easier with 2 people. Not squeaky or creaky anywhere and feels very sturdy. Fits queen platform mattress exactly Edited: okay, after sleeping on it for about 2 months the middle support bar has bent sideways so its just the 6 legs around the edge that holds it up and it is extremely squeaky. Assembly was kind of an ordeal. There were a lot of hex screws and on at least one occasion during the assembly, I needed basically three hands. The other issue is that several of the tolerances on the 'metal' (because I'm pretty sure it's not steel, as quoted in the product details) pieces weren't quite where they needed to be. They fit, but it took some force. Biggest downside for me is the weight of the bed. It's very light; I'm actually pretty sure my memory foam mattress is heavier than it. It has a tendency to move around on my laminate floors. Probably not an issue on deeper carpet, but it's something to think about. There's also no way to stop the mattress moving side-to-side. The headboard and footer do a decent job of keeping vertical movement minimal, but the support bars lay flush with the frame, so your mattress will slide a little. As far as durability goes... that's a long-term question, but I don't hold out much hope. The metal in the frame is pretty cheap, thin gauge stuff, and it's all just held together with hex bolts screwed into plastic anchors. The long sides of the frame are hinged, too, to make shipping easier, so there is a natural point of failure in the middle of the frame. I suspect I'll be buying another bed before long. In short, probably fine for a guest house/room, or for for a lighter person; I don't foresee this going over well with larger folks like me, or with two adults on the same bed. ... show more

A great frame for the price. We have never had an issue with creaking. There is plenty of space below for storage. The only caveat that I’ve found is if you move it requires a bit of disassembly and reassembly so you may want to remember your steps as you take it apart.
