This stuff is tough. It is heavy to the point it sinks like a rock in water. So tough in fact that my scroll saw would not could it. Then, my table saw had difficulty ripping it. It was very resistant to splitting.

Absolutely gorgeous wood. Deep and dark with flecks and streaks of dark golden brown was able to just barely squeeze two slimline pens out of this piece.It did take a while for it to arrive, but I think it was worth the wait.

Although the description says Ebony, it isn't. Looks and cuts more like a deep colored walnut. Actual Ebony is denser than what I received. Also, the packaging says Made in China. I've never seen Ebony come from China.... I'll wind up going to my local wood supplier so I can see what I'm buying.

It's a nice heavy chunk of wood. A bit scuffed up, but if you're carving it into something else, that won't matter anyways.
