There are not many products that actually excite me (As a disclaimer, I have no connection with Vaultek at all)....especially enough to go and buy 3 of their products in a matter of days. I spend a lot of time with guns and am very supportive of anything that promote safety and keeps them out of the hands of criminals. This seems like a great option for our lifestyle so I thought that I would share. I conceal carry near constantly, however...there are times that I am obligated to store my gun in my vehicle. Up until now that has been a challenge mostly because most portable gun safes are not designed for true automotive use (in particular, the rigors of off road and open vehicle usage. They F'n rattle and provide virtually zero protection from the elements. The locks are not reliable and if they are....they are tedious at best to open. Enter the Vaultek Lifepod series travel vault Inexpensive ($107 at Amazon) Airtight/Water resistant (Enough to float) Programmable to any combination between 4-8 digits Big enough for a Glock 19 and spare magazine Has a few options like an Organizer for cards and cash etc, Also a cable loop to secure almost anywhere (Hotel, Car etc). Although....I think it is dumb that they don't include the cable loop for free. (A little tip....if you order the black one from Amazon, some have been reported to come with a cable. I ordered 2 black safes, one came with it and one did not). Multiple colors (I think its like Black, Gold (ish), Grey, Orange, Multicam and there are a couple special editions). It is composed of a tough polymer (feels much like a Glock)....it feels very sturdy, I know that it is drop tested but not sure to what extent. I am sure that if someone spent enough time trying to open it....with some effort and tools they could. But it is certainly way more secure than probably what you are doing now. I don't think that it particularly looks like a safe which is nice. I have found the lock to be super reliable and easy to operate. I hard mounted one of mine to my Springtail Tailgate Table MOLLE rack....it seems like a perfect place to discretely stow the gun before proceeding into the places where am restricted. It matches the Punk'n and does not appear out of place in the Jeep. Note: One of the life pods had to be returned because the program button would not work....Amazon replaced it promptly and without any hassle. ... show more

I absolutely love the product! It took a couple tries to set the password correctly, but it is fairly simple. But the safe itself is really nice and high quality!!! The customer service wasn’t the best! I live in NY and am new to the whole gun world. The process here for getting your permit is pretty long! From August until today (7 months). You have to buy the gun upfront. But you don’t get to have the gun until you clear the process (for obvious reasons). So I bought this safe, and 7 months later I finally unbox the safe and excitedly walk into the store just to find out the gun is JUST too big! I had no way of knowing prior. I contacted them to see if I could exchange it for a bigger safe, and they wouldn’t do it. They did reply quickly which I appreciated. But under the circumstances, and with me wanting to still buy with them, I really feel they could have worked something out. The most they would do is give me 5% off the bigger safe. Now I think I will look around at the competition. ... show more

I have been researching a good option for a night stand safe. There are a lot of options and I didn't want this LifePad. It looked and sounded cheap. To my surprise, it is made well, easy to use, and is very safe for those of us with kiddos in the house, and that was my biggest concern. It comes with a cable that is super easy to mount to your night stand or wherever you want, so that vault cannot leave the stand. Well done, I will be ordering another one! ... show more

Seems like a solid, well-designed product. I really like the airtight/watertight seal. The steel cable and/or carrying tether attach in a protected slot outside of the gasket, so it maintains the seal with either one installed. Fits well in the nightstand drawer and under the seat of my vehicle to discourage curious kids and a@@hole thieves, respectively. I took off 1 star because the 1st one arrived without the keys and tether. Possibly a previous return sent back out without inspection, which I don't appreciate. I also bought the pick & pluck foam insert, which I rated 5 stars. Note that using the P&P foam reduces the usable size of the compartment by about half an inch in both directions. It BARELY fits my compact semiauto. Consider the next larger size if that's a potential issue for you. BTW, I'm not using the tape on the P&P foam. That way I can take it out and use the egg-crate foam when storing slightly larger items. ... show more
