I loved their Metal MX Series safe so much I also bought this unit for when I'm in the car or travelling. The safe is TSA approved and has space inside for necessary accessories and documents for travel compliance. I glued a Tile tracker inside mine so should it not be where I left it there is a good chance I can find it. My phone has no trouble reading the Tile with the unit secured. While it doesn't have Metal Construction like the bigger safes cabled in the car or to something immovable I feel is more secure against a grab-n-go in a valet lot or hotel safe where you don't know who has a master key or time to work at it and there is a lax second layer of security. It's design doesn't scream what it is and in the optional fabric carry bag it could easily be mistaken for a Dopp kit or Tool bag. The unit uses an Alkaline battery and has a USB port to supply backup power to operate the keypad and fingerprint sensor if the battery is dead as well as a key backup to unlock only. Some of Vaulteks mid-size portable units do but I wish these smaller mobile units also used Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries and had the Wifi features so they could be registered with their unique code in the Vaultek app like the bigger ones. Once registered this app allows you to see the status of the safe (locked, unlocked, opened, closed, temp, humidity), configure many features of the safe and more importantly registers a timestamped log of successful opening and closing events of the safe as well as which code or fingerprint was used and failed keypad code or fingerprint attempts to access the safe. My cars, Any Hotel I'd stay in, and my second home all have Wifi and USB power nearby so I can always be notified of tampering especially in situations where I don't have a second layer of security like a car or house alarm that must be breached to get physical access the unit. Even without Wifi the event log can give you more peace of mind than a simple tamper warning in determining if someone simply bumped the nightstand or made a concerted effort to gain access. While the unit is made of plastic I feel like it is durable enough that if you had this tamper notification and you secured the unit with the cable in the optional accessory pack it would hold off an intruder long enough for a response if you were nearby or authorities were notified if it were integrated with an security system through an API. Never-the-less I would highly recommend this unit for it's intended purpose as a travel or bedside safe storage. ... show more

Love this product not the price but the product is worth it if you are securing your arms in a portable manner or using this as a substitute safe...the anchoring cable keys & digital options are great! Nicely styled in different colors & sizes battery powered & seals against the elements including water to a point! More people should have one especially if you have a family & cant afford a giant safe or just simply traveling strapped! ... show more

I’ve been interested in Vaultek for a while now. But I had a “average” safe with a electric buttons for the combination. But I really wanted to get a nice portable one. Vaultek knocked it out of the park. Besides being incredibly well built and super functional, it’s an absolute work of art visually. It’s gorgeous. For functionality, they thought of everything and executed flawlessly. Biometric finger print entry. Key pad entry. Key entry just in case. But you can lock out the key entry. You can store up to 20 finger prints (includes the 2 admin finger prints). The usability is excellent. So easy to program and use. Inside has multiple configuration options based on your needs including a removable tray and extra foam. Steel cable to secure it. And built tough. If I could design the absolute perfect safe (I’m using them for my guns), I’d not even have come close to how perfect this one is. I can’t recommend it more. Just get it. You will be thrilled and be able to rest assured your gun(s) (or valuable) are safe. I’ll be getting the multi gun Vaultek MX soon. Well done Vaultek, you’ve gained a customer for life. ... show more

It's a locking case for valuables and such. It comes with keys in case the battery dies, very durable, cable lock included, lighted interior, removable tray and padding. Awesome!!

    • Seems sturdy, but not ideal for a double stack

The Vaultek seems sturdy enough. I ordered the extra pack with pluck foam and lid organizer. The tray that comes with the Vaultek 2.0 is not usable if you have a double stack. The bottom of the Lifepod is not deep enough to accommodate a double stack and the tray. I used the pluck foam and then used the bottom foam padding on top to create a cushion between the lid organizer and the double stack. The pluck foam is also about 3/8 inch shorter and skinnier than the inside of the Lifepod so it doesnt quite snug into place even with the double sided tape provided. The fingerprint scanner is nice and seems to work without issue, but I wish I could have more than one Digit combo to open it with. You also have to decide between the carry handle and the securing cable as you can not have both of them on it at once. It would be nice if I could carry it to the truck, open it, slide the cable in and lock it down without having to remove the handle, find a place to put the handle so it doesn't slide under a seat or something. I will probably get annoyed and just leave the handle in the house. ... show more

I bought the non biometric Lifepod a couple weeks ago for my SUV and wanted one for my bedside and chose the biometric model. These are secure and easy to set up. Most importantly though is that the firearms are away from curious adults and children yet quickly accessible. My Springfield Hellcat fits nicely in the top tray with some pluck foam. The safety on my S&W M&P Shield 2.0 won’t allow the gun to sit in the top tray and when placed in the bottom won’t allow the tray to be used because, again, the safety. A small consideration that Vaultec overlooked. However without the tray it works great and my gun is secure. Great product! Get quality 9V batteries; they aren’t included. ... show more
