You've got equipment to protect, and a Pelican Storm Case is the best way to do it. Why? It's all about the resin: our proprietary HPX Polymer is proven to resist impacts even in low-temperature laboratory testing. But the real proof is in the bragging rights that come with survival. Because to a Pelican Storm Case, whether falling from a helicopter, crashing down class V rapids or taking a hit in the center lane of the New Jersey turnpike is all in a day's work. From the Manufacturer From the Manufacturer ANATOMY OF A PELICAN STORM CASEThe Pelican Storm CaseYou have equipment to protect, and a Pelican Storm Case is the best way to do it. Why? It's all about the resin. But the real proof is in the bragging rights that come with survival. Because to a Pelican Storm Case, whether falling from the helicopter, crashing down class V rapids or taking a hit in the center lane of the New Jersey turnpike is all in a day's work.Lightweight and rugged, the Pelican Storm Case is the result of years of perfecting and testing in both the laboratory and the field. From the proprietary HPX plastic resin that is tough during low-temperature impact testing, to the patented Press and Pull latch that opens easily, every facet of these lightweight cases has been created to defend your vital gear. The Pelican Storm Case has been designed to meet or exceed military testing requirements. Many are airline size appropriate, and all are internationally shippable. Storm Case FeaturesMolded In Lockable HaspsTwin mating hasp holes on the rim of the case allow attachment of padlocks to keep your gear in and thieves out. And check out Pelican's TSA approved cable padlock. Now you can check your baggage with confidence while flying in the USA. The Travel Security Agency has the key, and you have the combination.Press and Pull LatchesThese smooth-opening, dependable, patented latches hold tight under pressure and impact despite fast-opening performance. Tested to over 400 pounds, yet open with a simple release button.Rugged In-Line WheelsShielded from dust, dirt and other contaminants - ball bearing wheels provide low-friction, low-drag rolling with retractable handles for easy movement of heavy loads.Resilient HPXLightweight, durable, impact resistant HPX shell.Double-Layer, Soft-Grip HandlesWhen the weather goes south you'll find a secure grip that won't slip. An in-tool vulcanizing process over-molds the grips to the polymer handle for a lifetime of dependable performance.Vortex Pressure Release ValveThe built-in technology of Pelican Storm Cases automatic pressure equalization valve is also a patented feature. Air travel prevents vacuum lock to make opening the case natural even after extreme altitude changes. At the same time, the microscopic filter blocks water molecules and dust particles so your gear stays clean in the Gobi and dry on the Nile.Rounded Deflective CornersThe corners of a Pelican Storm Case deflect and absorb impact, dispensing kinetic energy throughout the case to ensure contents remain safe drop after drop.

  • A Big Hardcase Travel or Service Unit
Color: Black Style: No Foam
I bought this to mount on the back of a motorcycle as a top case. It works well for that task if you have the space and has built in mounting points. These are normally used to hold the sliding handle and wheel unit to the case, but when those are removed, there are several points that can be used along the bottom of the case to mount it to something else. This was a bonus feature for me, allowing me to mount it w/o drilling holes thru the case. As a piece of luggage, it will survive any handling or mis-handling the traveler might encounter. It's tough! However, it is also just a bit too large for some airline limits for carry on luggage, so check your favorite carrier before ordering if that is your intended use. I also purchased a lid organizer for this unit. However, I found that when the case was exposed to the sun for extended periods, the adhesive on the velcro that attached the lid organizer to the lid would soften and fail, leaving me with the organizer laying in the case instead of secured to the lid. This was a detraction for me. Even adhesive promoter failed to overcome this issue. I have been told epoxy will prevent this, but have not tried it as yet. The case is sized well for larger items and is lockable with padlocks, which I found useful in travel, both with airline approved locks and heavier padlocks when not used during air travel. It has held up extremely well to outside use on a motorcycle for two years and shows only superficial wear from use. I have never had water intrude inside the case, despite long hours in driving rain while mounted on the back of a motorcycle traveling at highway speeds as well as sitting outside in all kinds of weather. ... show more

  • Great case
Color: OD Green Style: No Foam
Shipped on time, product is as described. Wish this size pelican - storm case had a handle on top as well as the telescoping one like all the other models, but that has nothing to do with Amazon. Have used it on a few trips so far and sprayed it down with hose to test the seals, everything is good.

  • Tough case
Color: OD Green Style: With Foam
I travel for work and needed a case that would take a beating. This one does, the TSA locks I paid extra for did not however. at $8 per lock I lost three locks in two trips. I went to the hardware store and picked up a flat head bolt and wing nut instead and this holds it closed which is the only real problem with this case. There is no inner liner like my 1510 LOC case to keep my junk inside if the latches open. The wing nuts aren't secure but they'll keep it closed for the duration of my trips. The only other complaint is that there is only one handle on the long side and only the retractable handle on the top so sometimes carrying it is awkward. I will forgive it almost anything though because it's tough and it does have the storm case latches instead of those pelican double throws. This really is the ideal size for checked bags because it has a low empty weight and carry's just enough to max the limit for airlines. It comes with pick'n pull foam if you want to use it for equipment also but I've used that in a different gun case instead. ... show more

  • Inaccurate interior dimensions
Color: Black Style: With Foam
Great quality case, HOWEVER the stated interior dimensions don’t account for the internal footprint of the wheels and handles that take away ~1 inch on either side. Unfortunately in my case this meant that the usable space was insufficient for my application and I had to return the case. Mind you I have 5 other Pelican cases (including one larger Storm case) and this was no issue for any of them, just this small guy ... show more
