I bought this for my boyfriend, whose band often plays summer gigs in the Tennessee heat and high humidity. I suggested a linen shirt in a summery color, which would serve well in both casual and more formal outdoor settings. Eventually his entire 11-piece band will likely buy one of these because they are affordable and we were pleased overall. The following characteristics were indicative of the price for a fair-average quality linen shirt, which run quite a bit higher if they are good quality. However, for the price, this shirt fits the bill if it will be used infrequently. The linen is of fair quality. Due to the feel of the cloth I suspected the dye might not be colorfast, so to prevent the color from bleeding and to make the shirt colorfast for future washings, I hand-washed it with an added Tbsp of salt. To prevent probable shrinkage I would only line-drying or tumble drying without heat (I did the latter). I was OK with all this care EXCEPT the threads that emerged from everywhere after tumble drying, like a dog shedding fur! I spent 15 minutes with tiny scissors clipping long and teeny threads, very careful so as not to cut the shirt itself. This revealed the poor workmanship of the shirt. Still, my guess is that the less expensive shirts may be of even lesser quality. Realistically, if you want a good linen shirt, you have to pay at least double. ... show more
