  • My new go-to’s
Style: Wood Tip
Because I play in smaller rooms my old 5A’s were just too much. I was blowing everyone out with my cymbals so I switched to these lighter sticks and although the lightweight feel took some getting used to, I’m really enjoying playing them. I play upbeat worship sets that are pretty dynamic - soft moments, big moments and a lot of builds. For me this stick can play comfortably through all dynamics well and I’m now used to crashing my 22” ride with it. Just took a change of technique/strike position from the old 5A’s. ... show more

  • Only sticks that last
Style: Wood Tip
My son hits super hard playing death metal and these are the only sticks that last a decent amount of time.

  • Decent Stick Definition, but heavy
Style: Wood Tip
I used the AJ6 for years before Vic Firth discontinued. Now I'm looking for a substitute. The Vater 7As are meaty sticks. They thunder when you hit drums and their weight goes into the cymbals (so be careful to use good cymbal technique). They are not as stiff as the Vic Firth 5As, so they feel playable. The barrel shape tip is good for press rolls and the tip is small enough to play the cymbals musically. You can very how much stick definition you want in your cymbals. However, on thin cymbals the stick's weight means that you get more wash, less definition, and you really can't control it, especially at faster tempos. Maybe this is the stick for you, but not for me. ... show more

  • Slips to easily
Style: Wood Tip
When drumming to rock music it gets too slippery. Needs more grip. Otherwise for beginners it should work fine. Wife/Drummer

  • My top choice for 7A sticks!
Style: Wood Tip
I've been drumming for almost 40 years, and I've played a variety of music from hard rock, country, funk, R&B, to even some Latin jazz. My regular stick preference would be a 5A in wood tip. I used to prefer nylon, but the tips kept coming off and I like the dryer more natural sound of wood on the ride cymbal. I use almost exclusively wood tips now. But, the reason I love these sticks is the incredible response and tone I get from the rounded tips. My current band is playing softer 60's rock and R&B and these are perfect for smaller situations. For bigger venues I might still use a 5A for more volume, but for softer stuff these are my choice. I am also impressed with the durability, they seem to hold up better than many other sticks I've tried. Highly recommend, I've ordered several pairs and will continue to buy them. ... show more

  • Refreshing for a 5A player
Style: Wood Tip
These sticks are durable, but thin. They are comfortable, but for playing longer sessions, it’s probably beneficial to use grip tape on the bottom so there’s more for the hand to hold. Good sticks, and I will be ordering more when I’m able to.

  • It's what I ordered.
Style: Wood Tip
I needed a lighter stick than the nylon tip, japan oak pro-mark that I really like using. This fit the bill like I hoped.
