I bought this shoe because the one I wanted was sold out. The Mantra 2.0 GTX is what I had for over 2 years and they had been through hell and held up beautifully. So I decided I would replace them, but as I stated earlier they were and still are sold out of my size. So I went with these because they are the same brand with a similar vibram sole and gortex.     • These are not suitable replacements for the Mantra

I bought these Talus shoes hoping they would be a suitable replacement for the Vasque Mantra shoes. Unfortunately that is not the case. The Talus is stiff and not nearly as comfortable as the Mantra. When walking, the Talus is noisy and sounds more like a dress shoe. Click-clack, click-clack. No sneaking up behind your friends with these shoes. As for looks, the Talus looks OK. The tongue gap is a bit wide. Also, the shoes fit tight due to an extra layer of fabric where sides of the tongue attach to the upper. I've worn the Vasque Mantra shoes since early 2012. I've worn out three pairs. The Mantra was soft, comfortable, and quiet. The Mantra shoes felt like a part of my foot. I would buy the Mantra again if they resumed making them exactly as they once did. Vasque: Please resume making the Mantra! I know I'm not alone in this wish. Just reading the reviews of the Talus, I've seen others looking for a suitable replacement for the Mantra, but not finding it. I have been skeptical since Vasque has made a number of changes recently and nixed allot of my favorite shoes they offered for trail running and hiking and I had switched brands after picking up a couple of the newer models that were flatter and didnt fit right and longer. Im dipping my toes back into the Vasque pool hoping with this current offering they will be ok. These are great shouse, and they fit as did models 10+ years ago did and Im very excited. ... show more

Looks great and very comfortable. I was a little worried these wouldn't fit because I had read that they ran a little small. I took a chance and ordered my usual 11. 5 . I was not disappointed they fit perfect. For me they're true to size.

Comfortable and good fit. Had them on my wet pool deck and could push my feet apart without lifting the shoes. Very slippery. Was looking for a good shoes for slick rock and wet surfaces. Vasque shoes are of the highest quality. I have been wearing a 13 wide in this style for 3 years and it is now just time to repoace. Highly recommend this shoe.

    • Low is not good thing!
Heel cup is low and does not secure my heel. Couple this with the 3/4 length shank and the shoe cantilevers down the heel while stepping. All this movement is a guaranteed blister!
