I am an avid trail hiker. My experience with Vasque has been excellent, most especially because the cut of their boots contours to my feet perfectly. I like Merrell boots also, but find their toe width slightly wider than ideal for me. Another good feature of these Vasque boots is that they have all-leather toes, instead of webbing, which makes for a more rigid fit, which is important on steep, uneven terrain, where you don't want your foot to move inside your boot, even slightly. Additionally, the Vibram soles are the best you can buy and offer unexcelled traction. Overall, an excellent product at a good price.

Vasque boots always work for me! I have been wearing Vasque boots for many years! I do Mountain hiking and lots of short hikes around home. Most of the terrain is rocky and dirt. I have loved each pair I have owned. My favorite ones were the Skywalker which has been discontinued! It has been my all-time favorite and wish I could get it again. These boots were comfortable out of the box and after wearing them around the house I’ve worn them on several hikes now and they have been terrific with no foot pain. I love the color and the Contrasting laces. Only one complaint, they make my feet hot.

I just got these so I can't speak to durability. I like the fit. I would say I am a true 8.5 neither wide nor narrow. If you made me pick one I would say I lean narrow rather than lean wide. They fit me just great with a thin sock and I can put on a thicker sock. I think it might get tight with a super thick sock but I don't know because they will have to break in for quite some time. Very comfortable. I have worn them all day for a couple days. They are warm but not hot. I have not gotten them wet yet. I'll report back after some months. So far I am pleased with them.

I was hopeful. Good looking boot. No cushion, boots don’t breathe, became hot and sweaty. Rubs big toe near my arch even in wide.

Finally - A hiking boot that fits and does not squeeze my wide feet. I am still getting used to the eye hooks but I like how this feature allows me to adjust at the top of the ankle. Vasque makes a quality product.

I can only comment on first impressions, as I sent this one back. I am a women's 9, 9 1/2 in hiking boots, and the men's 8 fit perfectly. These were one of the stiffest boots I tried on my hunt for the perfect hiking boot. I can't imagine it would take long to break in tho. And I will agree with other reviews that the lace hooks weren't the best. Only wore around the house but the grip seemed good.

Another reviewer commented on this. The top two hook eyelets are too close together. Also, the tongue webbing is too heavy, The webbing puffs out when tying the boot. That turns the middle eyehook to the side which then makes it very difficult to fully lace the boot. The lace just pops out. Very frustrating. The last time (breaking the boots in indoors) I finally got it tied only to have the lace pop out while walking, essentially untying the boot. So, I gave up and returned them. Also, "wide" doesn't seem to make it to the 4E I need.
