    • Great enclosure
this is the second vantec product I've gotten and it has one defining feature: quality. The aluminum housing feels premium and for the price it should. After assembly it worked instantly and it's rubber feet transfer none of the vibrations to and from the drive inside it. no drivers need to be installed and assembly is quick and easy if you take your time and don't rush. Only drawbacks for it is that I paid more for the enclosure than I did for the drive. The cost definitely could have been a lot less since it's just a glorified sata to usb 3.0 adapter but I admit the aluminum is elegant and well made. The other drawback is that it uses usb 3.0 type b instead of a usb c connection. I imagine a future version of the drive will come with type c but it's at least better than 2.0 speeds like i've seen with other enclosures on amazon. Overall it's a great get if you have a computer that doesn't have an internal drive bay. It's an elegant piece of hardware that looks great on my desk and it's worked pretty flawlessly. ... show more

Well pleased. The product arrived undamaged, on time (actually the day before I expected it), and was well packaged for shipment. Installation of Blu-Ray drive was straight forward and simple. The only problem was the package of screws to hold the drive in place was not included as advertised (manufacturer error not seller I'm sure). If someone didn't have a supply of screws like I do it might be a problem. I plugged everything in, turned it on, rebooted and... nothing happened. Finally I did a cold start, (completely powered down my desktop) restarted with the unit turned on, and now it works perfectly. I don't even have to reboot, just turn it on and my Linux OS picks it up immediately. I've used it with my laptop with the failed DVD drive (that's really why I got it), even plugged it into my television usb port and played Blu-Ray directly to my television. That eliminated the need for a Blu-Ray player purchase, thank you very much. I don't usually write reviews because my experience will probably not be yours , but I couldn't be happier with this product if I tried.     • A few cons but good overall

It works good. I paired it with an lg blu ray drive that I flashed with libredrive firmware over SATA 1 year ago. This drive often caused Windows Explorer to crash on my Windows 10 PCs. The file explorer will forever be indexing and not be usable until I restart Windows Explorer in the task manager. Then it breaks the thumbnails until I restart my PC. This was not a problem when I used the the same drive over SATA. The enclosure is built well. It is aluminum with plastic bumpers. The package comes with a small screwdriver and many extra screws in case you lose some. The small drawback here is the standoff feet. They are 4 little rubber pieces that attach to the enclosure with adhesive. If you carry this thing in a backpack the legs will eventually fall off and get lost. A cheap shortcut solution for a $60 product in my opinion. The OWC Mercury Pro has feet that screw on for the same price. Overall, the cons are not deal breakers for me so I won't be returning it or anything but if I were to do it again I would buy the OWC Mercury Pro. ... show more

    • Perfect solution to my dilemma
I have a pioneer BDR-S11JX blu-ray player. I’m going to use to rip my Blu-ray 4K discs to digital. After purchasing the Blu-ray player, I realized installing it in my tower desktop PC was going to require purchasing special rails and I would have to remove one of my 4TB hard drives that occupy that front space currently. I decided I didn’t wanna go that route and purchase enclosure, this pioneer Blu-ray player is longer than normal Blu-ray players and it fits in the enclosure perfectly so easy to set up.     • Easy To Assemble - Well Built - Perfect Application
This is the type of product that fits a need perfectly. 5.25” drive bays are unicorns in PC’s in 2025. I upgraded my 2012 to a new boutique gaming PC system with no 5.25” drive bays available. I thought of having to home build or modify the new PC and then came across this in Amazon. Bought based on reviews, photos & videos. I am not disappointed at all. Great product that is well designed, simple, well built and perfectly meets my needs. The rubber feet are the chefs kiss as they hold it steady and secure atop my new PC.
