The slicer is very easy to use it does bog down a tiny bit but doesnt affect cutting. Would recommend buying food grade grease to lube gears and use a short bowl or a plate behind it to catch food. Besides that I've used it plenty of times and love it . Would definitely recommend.

I can honestly tell you that I have never been so happy to box an item up and return it as I am with this Valley Sportsman meat slicer. I was so excited to get it out of the box this morning and get to work on a smoked pork loin roast right out of the fridge My first indication that the slicer was gonna be a problem was when I took the blade off to clean it for the first time. I specifically purchased cut proof gloves in order to handle the blade, but it turned out to feel like a dull bread, knife instead. Some of the machine oil was stuck down to the point that it was nearly impossible to remove. I also noticed that the support plate did not line up evenly with the blade, but wasn’t sure if that would be an issue, so it started it up. Right away I had a feeling that it wasn’t spinning fast enough to effectively slice the meat based on the dullness of the blade, but I pressed forward since I did not know how it would perform… This thing would only slice at 5 on the dial, which is the same thickness you would get with a good knife. Anything lower would yield inconsistent cuts, not to mention no slices had a clean cut which meant that shredded bits were going all over the counter and the floor as I went along with the roast determined to get one nice deli slice out of this unsatisfactory experience. I can’t even tell you how bad the cleanup was. There were meat bits in every nook and cranny of the slicer. I even had to go in with tiny tweezers to get bits out of the screw holes behind the blade. Seriously, in the time it took to completely clean the slicer, the counter, and the floors, I could’ve went at the roast with a sharp knife, and achieved the same slice thickness with a whole lot less mess and aggravation. Very sloppy performance and requires extensive cleanup. This was a poor investment of time and money. ... show more

This product is not very good. The blade motor is slow, the blade more rips than cut. And the slide tray, doesn't slide it binds and sticks. The only fluid motion this machine has is the tray being pulled away for cleaning. Don't buy

Felt cheaply made and the blade didn’t cut any meat regardless of what it was, it just shredded it and then got stuff stuck in it that I couldn’t clean unless I took the entire thing apart.
