This saved my summer! I bought this AC unit because our central air had gone out, leaving our apartment dangerously hot. The landlord completely ignored us all early summer, and the July heatwave was the final straw. It says 700sqft, but managed to make over 900ft feel nice and cozy. Our livingroom dropped 4 degrees in an hour, and was comfortable after 3 hrs. After a day, the entire 3br apartment was cool. Some things to note: The window panel is hard to finagle at first. Attaching it to the hose seems easy, until it's time to seal it in the window. It doesn't lock in, it just kind of barely holds it there. So when you close the window, the hose will pop out a little. Make sure you have the panel and hose sealed tight or it'll just blow hot air back into the house. If you find it isn't cooling or the temperature is suddenly rising, make sure you check on that seal. The easiest way is to hold your hand in front of the panel and move along the length to see if you feel any warm air. If you do, the panel needs to be readjusted. It moves a lot of air really fast. It is a little loud, because it's a big unit. I have to have it on sleep mode when I sleep near it, or it'll wake me up as it turns off and on. However, you can barely hear it from a room away. The sound is just the sound of fast moving air though. It doesn't vibrate or go berrrrrrrrrrrrrr like some I've used before, which is nice. It's really heavy in the box, but the actual unit has handles and wheels, making it super easy to move once unpacked. It's not going to reach through closed doors. These seems like common sense, but I definitely made the mistake of closing my bedroom door for hours (when the unit was in the living room) and the temperature jumped up FAST. It'll keep the ambient temp low, so it didn't get as hot as it would've, but make sure you keep airflow going to any place you want cool. The panel is designed for windows that are flush. If the window closes below the windowsill, you'll need something underneath to lift it up a bit. Otherwise the hose will pop out. We ended up cutting a 2×4 to put underneath it to create a flush surface. It worked like a charm! Tldr: Unit is amazingly powerful, can cool a 3bdroom apartment in 24hrs, a little loud, and is tricky to install. It's not hard, but you really have to pay attention to make sure hot air isn't coming back into the house. The panel and hose connection could definitely be more secure. Cons included, this unit still outperforms my expectations. It's 101°f outside, but 68° in here!!! ... show more

We are still getting to know this machine, but we’ve had it for like two weeks and it happen to come in in the hottest day of the year. The hardest part was getting the venting out the window. We’re going to go to Home Depot and buy a longer drainage hose because I hate having a bucket in the middle of the room. So it cools off my whole downstairs. I don’t live in a very big home, but we leave the air conditioner on upstairs in the air compressor conditioner on down here and the whole house feels nice and cool was well worth the money it runs good it’s quiet and now after the initial running of this, the water has tapered off there’s hardly any water now and I love it because it’s portable. I am so relieved that I don't have to live in a sweltering apartment without air conditioning anymore! This thing really gets the job done! I have it in my kitchen, and it cools my kitchen and living room extremely well. I'd say together they are 300-400 square feet. Once it cooled everything down initially, I turned the target temperature way up because I was almost TOO cold! The instruction book that came with it explains that the plug has a surge protector (LCDI) built into it. My book said it should have a green indicator light when you plug it in. There's no green indicator light, so I was worried about turning it on. I emailed customer service and they replied in less than a day! They said it was redesigned and there isn't a green indicator light anymore. It will automatically trip if there is a problem with the power line. Assembly was very easy. I was super happy about that, as I am NOT handy! There was a gap between the bottom edge of my window and the top of the plate you put in the window for the vent to go through. Unsurprisingly in an older house, my window isn't totally square. Mine came with some non-adhesive foam strips, which I stuffed into the metal groove at the bottom of my window frame (where the window would normally close but where the plate is now). It also came with some gray adhesive strips that I used to seal up the gaps between the bottom of my window and the top of the plate. This stuff is really sticky and the gray stuff comes off all over your hands and anything you touch. I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot of gray stuff to clean off my window when the hot season is over. But it's keeping the area sealed for now. It came off my hands fairly easily with nail polish remover so I'm hoping that will work on the window too. The unit is about as noisy as a big fan. You definitely can hear it but it doesn't bother me at all. I am very pleased with this purchase! I had taken to driving around in my car with the air conditioner on in order to avoid my hot apartment. Now I can relax at home. ... show more

This portable ac is wonderful! Very easy to set up, works very well and is quiet. I use a regular fan to pull the air through to another room, so it works to cool more than the 500 Sq Ft. I used an evaporative cooler for several years which did not cool well and was very loud - good riddance! I originally gave this 4 stars due to the short length of the exhaust hose, and that is a nuisance. However, the ac does what it's supposed to so well, I changed my rating to 5 stars. Will mention that it has tripped my breakers a couple of times since I've had it. This ac really does make life sooo much better when the temperature is high! Was also pleasantly surprised to see it made no difference to my electric bill. Will definitely be purchasing another one for another area in the house. ... show more
