It was really fun to put together and the instructions were easy to follow. My only complaint is some of the pieces didn't have a snug enough fit, so when you turn on the motor the chains tend to snag. Otherwise it was a lot of fun and worth the price. I wasn't missing any pieces (even had a few extras just in case), the finished product looks really cool, and it felt like I was actually learning about the engine!

I picked up this V8 engine model kit as a hand on STEM build, and it delivered exactly the kind of satisfying project I wanted. The 1,176 pieces fit together cleanly, and the instructions were clear enough that I rarely had to backtrack. I didn't need any special tools beyond a separator and patience. Assembly takes time, but it's the fun, focused kind of time, and the finished engine feels sturdy rather than flimsy. Once built, the USB rechargeable motor is the best part seeing the pistons cycle, the fan spin, and the valve train move makes the mechanics easy to visualize. I like that it doesn't rely on disposable batteries and that the two speeds let you slow it down to watch the sequence. It looks great on a desk and always sparks questions. I bought this V8 engine model as a gift for a close friend who loves American muscle cars and has been into LEGO his whole life, and he absolutely loved it. It’s a perfect blend of classic car culture and hands-on building. The build was challenging in a good way, and it felt more like an engineering project than a typical LEGO set. He noted that he loved watching the pistons and crankshaft move. The parts fit together well, it’s compatible with LEGO-style bricks, and the rechargeable motor is a nice bonus. Overall, it’s a fun, educational build and a great display piece for any adult LEGO or car enthusiast. I wish the box arrived in a bit better shape. It looks nice, but took a bit of a beating in shipping, making it look a little less "premium" then it could have been.

This engine kit provides hours of entertainment and learning. It isn't as difficult to assemble as it is time consuming. It was a great gift for my adult son to assemble with his son (my grandson). They had a great time. Once finished, it was a good bit smaller than depicted in the advertisement. The connectors were missing, which we didn't discover until it was mostly assembled. I reached out to the manufacturer who promised to ship them right away. That was weeks ago and I have yet to receive the missing pieces. It was an expensive "toy" to have not received all of the pieces and is now just an expensive paperweight. I gave it 3 stars because it actually appears complete, provided time for my son and grandson to work together and problem solve. It also taught my grandson a lesson in dealing with disappointment.

This engine is a fun build for anyone interested in how they work. The engine being a V8 makes it cooler because it's not a small size just for the science, but it's also a novelty sized engine that looks cool. It is not a easy build. The instructions are straight foward but there are a lot of steps as it is over 1100 pieces. This is a fun gift for anyone who likes building cars or is interested in mechanics or engines. Overall, this is a good value for the price for a engine set. I would suggest this for older or mature kids and adults just because it is fairly difficult to build. Some of the pieces are challenging to get together. It works good with the provided battery for short term display and use, it will rub over time. It does not represent the actual combustion portion, just a mechanical drive which is still interesting to see. Would recommend!
