What I really liked is that they were able to see how the engine went together but also the fact that it moved and at different speeds. Gift for a family member, birthday's coming up :) This looks like a great (pre-teen to mid-teen) project for parent and youth...but lots of bits and pieces ! Instructions are basic, with not a lot of words but if you've used other click-together building kits it should be fine~ Related pieces are bagged together and well-marked. Fun lights and sounds because, well; we all know boys gotta make those car noises ! But in addition to the fun, there are logical thinking skills, hands-on manipulating, learning/identifying engine parts and systems..with the visual app. What more can you ask for ? (steam might be fun..) We'll have fun surprising the guys and hopefully follow up with assembly photos. It might be good to have an engine repair manual (from the library) on hand to refer to/answer questions as you go.
