Style: Headphone
...so close Sound Quality: Incredibly Neutral and flat. As a result mids have a much larger presence as opposed to most typical headphones. May sound harsh to some that arent used to a sterile sound these aim to recreate. These are not your typical warm vmoda signature sound, they are more geared towards studio monitoring. For what they are, its great but i wouldnt laud them for your typical fun and casual listening. These are headphones that really do like having an amp around to get the most out of them but dont need much juice to be driven and your phone will be more than sufficient unlike other cans that have similar sound signatutures. i personally prefer a more neutral sound and i got just that so im enthralled to finally have them. I listen to Bass heavy music like Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Hardstyle and Rap. While they arent throbbing or booming they provide a very detailed and accurate representation of mixes. They are shocking at first because many including myself associate Vmoda as a very warm sounding line of headphones but to say they are lacking in the lows isnt true. Genres like Punk and Metal that arent bass centric never sounded harsh or lacking in low ends. Kicks dont get lost in the bass chug of faster tracks, something that really caught my ear. I listened to this with a JDS Labs ATOM Dac and amp stack. COMFORT: Ok, but could definitely be better. Fortunately despite being a bigger and taller dude than average, i dont have a big head or ears so the fit wasnt TOO problematic. This seems to be an issue for others and many of their points i still find myself agreeing with. No detraction is major enough for them to become annoying but some design aspects are questionable. The ear cups look akin to the XL pads in other models but they are about 2/3 the thickness and not compatible with other models which is just outright dumb. sure these pads are magnetic but to have them as proprietary with no other enlarged options is head scratching to say the least. Had they been any tiny bit less padded and i would have more scathing words and im really close because more than 1 hour of wearing necessitates a break. Right out of the box, they are folded in tight and small position so flexing the band over your cranium means youre gonna get a decent amount of clamp that seemed to ease up later in the day. As of right now its no major issue for me personally and i foresee that it will be alleviated over time. I would be surprised if the Guiness world record for having VModa headphones resting on your collarbone is over 10 minutes. BUILD QUALITY: Like all VModa products, they are build like tanks and can take beatings that very few headphones can even come close to. I have no worry of these breaking on me and even if they did, VModa has a very good replacement policy. Its simple to say the build quality is top notch. Value: I had decided i wanted these for awhile and the only barrier was the relatively steep price. I dont feel as if 350 is worth it, 300 would be more reasonable considering that they dont have any features that separate them from competition. The sound quality is superb so the bruise to my pocket wont ache for too long. To be honest i would reccomend these over the sennheiser HD660 which you can find for the same price solely for the reason that those are comparable in sound but the sennheisers are supremely comfortable and these simply arent. All in all i like them a lot but for the love of god please make XL pads for these headphones. If comfort is a major issue then i would avoid them. if youre a smaller person or dont intend to use them for extended periods (theyre studio monitors so who am i kidding) then i would heavily consider them. just realize youre getting sterile sounding headphones not your typical V curve. Okay so let me start off by saying these are built like all other vmoda headphones so if you've bought before you know what you're getting, however if not they're built like tanks mostly metal construction and a leathery type material for the headband it kinda reminded me of the way a seat in a car feels but a tad more rubbery the sheilds are solid built metal they feel like they'll last awhile and the only plastic on the headphones are on the cups themselves and a cool feature they've added are the ear cups are completely magnetic and can be removed easier than previous models . They do come with 2 cables aswell one with a mic and one without both are very high quality and honestly don't tangle very easy from what I've used them and feel like they will last as long as the headphones. The case is in the v moda fashion however a little less on the exoskeleton alien vibe in my opinion it still has that look dont get me wrong but more toned down I'd say. Sound quality Now heres the most important part of a set obviously the sound and do these live to that studio headphone label I've used alot of sets of headphones in my life from Sony , bose , and essentially everything in between. These are flat and by flat I mean they is nothing enhanced at all they're colorless and dont leave anything to the imagination as a good set of studio headphones should do. Now dont go buying these to run mp3 formatted songs because they will sound harsh and cluttered and just really unpleasant if you're going to get these you need to run flac wav or or uncompressed formats of those styles they do work well with things like tidal and other hi res streaming however dont go thinking pandora is gonna sound like studio. I've ran these through vigorous tests and songs and I have yet to find a genre that they cant handle and for people saying they have a lack of bass I would say no it's not forward as like I said nothing is enhanced but on an uncompressed song I ran that had a great deal of it and it had a very deep and solid extension well into the low end but still not over bearing and without bleeding into anything else and everything where it should be. So should you buy them? If you have the time and uncompressed songs or you need a set of unforgiving headphones for editing or studio use absolutely these are perfect for those categories and definitely carry their weight to justify the price ... show more

    • My V-Moda M-200 Review
Style: Headphone
Comfort - 2 Build Quality - 5 Sound Quality - 2 Just recently bought the M-200, the build quality of the headphones is incredible but that about where the niceties end. The comfort is horrible, the padding on the headband is too thin to the point where you can feel the hard stitching, and the pads on cups are so thin you can actually feel the integrated ring on the bottom of the pads, the clamping force makes you feel like your head is being pinched in half. The sound quality of the speakers with the speakeasy cable is A-shaped, meaning the mids are emphasized and treble and bass recessed. Giving them a very muffled sound. For the balanced cable, I'll have to get back to you on that because I haven't found anything that takes a 3.5 mm connection. Why couldn't V-Moda use the industry standard of a 4.4 mm connector instead? Now I have to buy an adapter for a very uncommon connector. Overall thus far the headphone is way overpriced for what your getting. You are better off buying a pair of Audio Technica ATH-MSR7b if you want a balanced pair of headphones. They're $100 less and they sound better than V-Moda M-200. If V-Moda wants to be a fashion company, sell clothes not headphones. P.S. The balanced cable subdued it's A-shaped signature a little but the detail is lost due to the headphones being so mid centric.
