I was looking for a not-too-small and not-too-big backpack to use while riding my motorcycle to carry things like my lunch, raincoat, and some odds and ends that didn't fit well into my on-the-smaller-side tank bag. This backpack does the trick. It easily holds a water bladder, lunch, raincoat, etc. with room to spare. The harness works great. No movement even on technical trails. Although I'm not a very big person, 5'-11" 165 lbs, I have adjusted the straps to almost as big as they can go to get over my riding coat -- admittedly it is my cold-weather coat, so it is kind of bulky -- but it may be a challenge for bigger people to not have the backpack feel snug even at its largest adjustment level. Some of the smaller internal pockets seem superfluous, as they I can't envision what to put in them, but I just don't use them... Also, I have removed the back protector as my riding coats have back protectors in them. The protector in the backpack seemed duplicative and removing it gets rid of extra weight/bulk. ... show more

After reading reviews and seeing vid reviews with high recommendations of the USWE pack design I finally decided to give it a shot. After a couple of solid rides under my belt with this pack I have to say it is even more impressive than I expected. The harness system feels odd at first but once it is adjusted I honestly forget it is even there during a ride. There is zero bounce to it and it stays where you want it to. Luckily I haven't had to test the protector as of yet but it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Would be nice at this price if they included a hydration bladder, I can't imagine that it would cost much as a manufacturer to include it but it isn't a deal killer, just kind of cheap on your end. All in all though I will recommend it to others as a pack that has good space but definitely rides like a much smaller pack. ... show more

    • Best backpack for hiking I’ve ever owned. Most comfortable too

Wore it for several hikes for good portions of the day. Had it loaded with several pounds of gear, knives, flashlights, water bladder, camera gear. With it properly adjusted it moves very little and is very very comfortable. I have a bad shoulder and normal hiking gear ends up wearing out my shoulder within a few hours, but this back doesn’t ride on your shoulder and puts the weight on you chest due to the strap design, also the elastic straps take the impact when jumping or jogging. My shoulder made it twice as long as it would have with a normal backpack with normal shoulder straps, I was incredulous about the “no monkey on your back” claim but it’s accurate. Very little movement and helped with preventing my shoulder injury flare ups on those long hikes. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. ... show more

I was looking for an all around pack that worked for hiking, mountain biking, and adventure motorcycle riding. I have gone though numerous other packs and found myself with specific ones per sport, but yet 80% of what I carried were common items. This pack lives up to its ratings and is the best designed pack I have owned. It is extremely secure, with an outward pocket for small stuff, an open flap pocket for quick to reach items, and a large internal pocket. Its single release is very easy. For hiking, I remove the toolkit from the flap pocket and go. One note: in extreme temps, for me above 95deg F, the pack rides warm, as it is secured to your body. I did not realize how much my other packs flopped around. I have done significant mileage in all three sports, and give this pack my highest review. (if they put a shovel and probe pocket, they would own backcountry snowmobiling) ... show more

Empty these are about 2lbs, with gear I have it up to about 8.5lbs. the front clips takes some getting used to, but I’ve been riding with these on for about 3 weeks. used to it by now. Good quality, the padding feels secure.

Great product. My husband requested this to use on his motorcycle because it had all the right pockets, space for a water bladder, and room for an extra shirt. Also has a back plate and really great straps. My husband who is very picky with gear, was thrilled with this backpack.
