This cable will work fine if you have an open ended connection like at the side of a laptop, but my HP dock has a 1/4" opening that this cable did not fit. The original USB C that came with my dock had a slightly smaller housing that the C connector comes out of. Rather than try to trim around the cable, I used a Dremmel tool to make the 1/4 hole in the dock larger. I really had to go wide to get the housing of the cable in, and then it did not want to do a secure connection without the cable popping out. Removed a lot of plastic to finally get the cable in securely. Cable and connection worked for about 5 minutes sending signal from my laptop to the dock and the two attached monitors before it stopped working- no signal to the dock at all. Usually even if the monitors are off, the USB C will still let me control the mouse and keyboard from the dock to the laptop, but that stopped working. I would return the cable but I had trimmed a little gasket piece off of the head of the cable thinking it was blocking the connection, so now I can't. I am back to using the old USB C which works fine (it's just too short). Waste of $20. ... show more
