  • A little big, but works perfectly.
Color: Black
I had looked at a few bags locally before deciding on this one. I needed a good camera bag and I needed it hold a lot of stuff. I don't always need it to be a back pack, but I liked the feature and the option to have it hold my tripod seemed excellent. So now that it has arrived and I've looked it over, this is a really nice quality bag. It's going to last me a really long time. I read another review that said it was poorly constructed and I just don't agree. The materials is sturdy, the zippers are well made and the straps are strong. It's not military grade durable by any stretch of the imagination, but it's as much or more than I expected it to be at this price. Personally, I'm not going to use this bag for hiking very often, and If I did, I might opt for something smaller that could carry less. This bag can carry a lot of stuff, including a laptop, so its a little bit larger than the typical hiking camera pack. The design is just about perfect. It holds a lot of stuff and the compartments are very functional. I looked at a few bags that had compartments that I will simply never use. I'll have a use for all the compartments in this bag. They didn't put pockets into it just for the sake of doing so, as some of the other bag companies have done. I was concerned that the laptop carrying compartment might take up too much room, but they did a good job with that. If you don't use the laptop pouch, you won't notice its there. Another reviewer commented that they could have done a better job securing the camera compartment. I would agree that it they could have padded it better, but I'm not planning on throwing this bag around, so its not a concern to me. If I did plan on the bag getting tossed around, I wouldn't pick this bag. About the tripod holder. My tripod is a sunpak 7000TM, which is on the larger & heavier side of medium-sized tripods. This bag holds it fine, but probably wouldn't hold much larger of a tripod. That being said, it holds it very well, and it isn't hard to take out or put back in, and the bag isn't grossly off balanced. I had considered a bag with straps at the bottom of the bag for the tripod so that the balance would be better. The side-carrying design of this bag, now that I've used it, is much better and makes the bag easier to store when your not carrying it around. Overall, I'd recommend it highly, absolutely deserving of 5 stars. If you are looking for a heavy duty, "throw it off a cliff and know that you're camera is still fine" kinda bag, this one isn't for you and you should be ready to pay more money. If you're looking for a bag that will hold all of your stuff, that's easy to carry around and perfect for a hiking trail, I'd go with this one. ... show more

  • It does it's job well
Color: Black
I bought this USA Gear photography backpack a month ago. I wanted to use it for a while before I wrote a review on it so I know how well it works in the real world after it is broken in a little bit. I have been very pleased with it’s performance. The zippers are very easy to zip, the pockets are very accessible, and it fits in well with my life of multitasking. The build quality is good especially for the price I paid for it. I have only owned it for a month, but I plan on having it for a long time. I am happy with the compartments in the bag. One for lenses and bodies with separators to keep contents secure, and a completely separate compartment for other goods like extra batteries, a book or journal, snacks, your hard drive, or really anything else. It is completely closed off from the part that holds my expensive stuff which I really appreciate. The laptop compartment is perfectly placed and very easy to access. I use a 15 inch laptop and it fits with plenty of room to spare, although I don’t think a 17 inch laptop would fit. The small zipped compartment on the front of the bag is just large enough to hold a couple memory cards and a USB drive which works very well. I am a relatively new photographer and don’t have as much gear as other photographers that I know, so this smaller compartment for cameras and lenses works well for me. I carry 3-4 lenses in this bag and one body. There isn’t much extra space unless you are willing to have some of the gear move around since there aren’t any extra dividers that come with the bag. The bag seems to resist moisture pretty well, but in case of emergencies, it does come with a rain cover. It seems easy enough to access, but I have not tried to pack it back into it’s storage compartment. The bottle holder or tripod holder on the side of the bag seems to work well for small tripods, but not well for most water bottles. I have to clip my water bottle to the tripod holder strap to make sure it doesn’t fall out each time I pick up or put down the bag. What I do not like is the amount of separators in the camera compartment. I would appreciate more of them so that I could customize the space more. Also, as I buy better gear, I will buy a bag that has more pitch, or is deeper. I have a small crop body now and it fits just fine, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable keeping a Nikon D5 in there. Again, it works just fine for mine and almost every other camera, but I would prefer a deeper compartment. Another negative is the straps. The bag has straps that buckle around your hips which make long hikes very nice on your shoulders. However, most of the time, I am carrying this bag for no more than 30 minutes and don’t feel the need to buckle those straps. There is no way to detach these and they are very long, so they dangle pretty low. Overall, I am very pleased with this bag. It has lived up and exceeded my expectations especially for the price I paid for it. It seems to do it’s job just as well or better than comparable bags that are 2-3 times more expensive. ... show more

  • Really Nice Bag!
Color: Orange
This is a really nice camera bag for the price. It seems to have a place for everything and I love the junk draw on the top perfect to just toss stuff in and roll. If you're just getting started then this is a great bag. I use it to bring my small setup to a shoot I do once a week. The orange trim matches my camera tripod and it all looks very professional. It even comes with a rain cover. Overall this is a great starter or backup bag for the price. ... show more
