Description

Coffee is a naturally oily substance. These oils accumulate inside coffee pots after repeated use and, over time, cause beverages to taste bitter and unpleasant. If a machine is left alone without cleaning for long enough, coffee oil residue can cause clogging and blockages that render a machine unusable. Cleaning your coffee equipment with Urnex products helps to ensure proper hygiene, reliable performance, and a great tasting cup of coffee. Urnex offers a variety of cleaning formulations in tablet, liquid and powder form to suit the unique shapes, sizes and needs of coffee and espresso machines and the people who are operating them. Commercial brewers should be cleaned each night after service. This will prevent the accumulation of stale coffee oils which can impact the taste of the next day's brews. Weekly, take off removable parts such as site glasses, etc. and give these a thorough cleaning as well. Finally, always remember to wipe down the area around the spray head as splashed- back coffee can accumulate there as well. How often should I clean my commercial espresso machine? Commercial espresso machines should be cleaned by back flushing with espresso machine detergent each night. Nightly back flushing will prevent the accumulation of stale coffee oils in the group heads, shower screens and filter baskets of your espresso machine. Keeping these parts clean is essential to maintaining great tasting coffee over time. Weekly, you should soak portafilters and baskets in a solution of espresso machine detergent and water.

  • Awesome cleanser for the coffee pot
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Works great - effortlessly cleaned the coffee pot. Very happy with this purchase

  • A little goes a long way and it is worth it!
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
We use a Bunn Coffee Maker at work. And on occasion, it will get left on overnight. The clear glass carafes have a tendency to stain even if you don't leave it on overnight. This is THE BEST pot cleaner I have found. Not only does it quickly clean the glass carafes, but it also cleans the coffee mugs that get left with coffee sitting in them or that don't get cleaned by the dishwasher. We even had a mug out in the warehouse that had a thick bit of "something" tan colored in the bottom of it. Probably for years. I poured some of this in with water, let it soak overnight and with a little coaxing it came out in a nice tan disk and left the mug clean, to of course be washed again. Amazing! Love it!! ... show more

  • Works great for tea stains
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I've been using this stuff for years, and it's indispensable for cleaning my stainless mugs. I drink a lot of ice tea, which I make in an Instant Pot. Both the pot and my mug get really hard-to-remove tea stains. I just use this cleaner with a little hot water and a Magic Eraser and all the stains come out. The stainless ends up sparkling clean and looking like new. I keep this stuff on hand because nothing else I've tried removes stains as well. ... show more

  • Kinda pricy but works better than any we've tried so far.
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it takes more than it should to clean the pot than it claims on the label ... but... it will clean like no other we've tried so far. Good quality Arabica bean coffee leaves behind build up stains, even on stainless steel carafes that doesn't want to wash out ... even using Dawn after soaking. This stuff releases those oil stains when enough is used & it brings it back to NEW & sparkly inside. ... show more

  • This really works
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
We have to maintain cleaning on various coffee pots. This works great

  • Works great!
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This stuff really cleans a coffee pot. The directions are screwy, though, just drawings. As I understand it, and eventually began using it this way, you put the liquid in the pot and dilute with water. Scrub with a stiff bristle brush to remove the scale. It actually liquifies it as you scrub. You can't just put it in as swish it around. That doesn't work. But, if you have a mechanical action to work the cleaner into the stains it will cause them to release from the pot, and it becomes perfectly clean. It also appears to coat the pot to help prevent the coffee from sticking during subsequent brew cycles, so frequent cleanings aren't necessary. ... show more

  • Good but not Great
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Don't get me wrong, this cleaner did a good job on the percolator, basket and strainer. It just took much much longer, and did not clean as well as, the cleaner that comes in Urnex' package that has smaller bottle of both Descaler and Cleaner. Wow, the cleaner (from same mfr) that comes in that Descaler-Cleaner bundle just worked so much faster and better. I'm guessing they probably meant for this one to be like a Maintenance item, and for the Cleaner from the Descaler-Cleaner bundle to be a corrective measure? Which is OK. Except that I did try that thing someone mentioned about using one of those cleaner pods, and it performed along the lines of this big bottle. Not as well! But close enough for horseshoes. So I might just continue using that common cleaner pod for maintenance, and buy more of Urnex' Descaler-Cleaner bundles for when I really need to get the percolator and parts cleaned up nicely. Just my take on it, anyhow. ... show more

  • Easy to use; does what it's good for
Size: 14 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
We have this at the office & use it every so often to clean our coffee pots. A squirt and a swirl is usually enough, but sometimes a soft brush is useful to get a stubborn spot. I got this for home use because my pod-coffeemaker was getting a weird stale oily taste to it, and the brewing chamber smelled acrid and nasty. I ran vinegar through a few times to clean out any calcium/magnesium deposits from our very hard water, which took care of other issues, but the smell remained. (I ran through a few cycles of fresh water to be sure the vinegar taste was gone.) So I got a bottle of this, and ran through about a half-cup mixed with a half-cup of water. Gave it several cycles using the same mix of water/solution--it's going to still work even if it starts looking dark and full of junk. Then another run-through of a fresh batch of water/solution to get any final bits, and several run-throughs of fresh water. It sounds like a lot of work, but it isn't. It's like making 3 or 4 cups of coffee--you just pour the mixture through a few times and then flush it. It gets rid of the stains and smells. If you have a ceramic mug that's stained, it helps get rid of any deposits. I wouldn't use it on anything metal [ETA: non-stainless steel—it instantly cleans stainless steel carafes] because it might damage the metal, but for ceramic or glass, it's great to get rid of the layered on coffee stains. I do this about every two months now, but not so many cycles because I got the machine very clean the first time. We still have hard water, and I still need to run vinegar through a few times, but the smell and stains are gone. ... show more
