The size is perfect and you can take out a shelf to make more space. The shelves not very sturdy, though and the poles keep coming out so you have to be very careful when putting together or trying to move them to a different location

These shelves are great for any purpose, but are especially good for inside your greenhouse or large grow tent. They’re pictured as two shelves but these stack so you can have one really tall shelf or even several smaller ones. So many uses and best of all it keeps my garden gear off the floor and easy to access. Saves me time and frustration. Definitely recommend because they’re sturdy, stackable and very economical. I ordered a set of two and one has been great. I was not expecting the shelves to be very sturdy for this price, however one of them buckeled with only a few seed trays. The other shelf had more weight and is holding up fine. Luckily it hasn't fallen over but it's not as sturdy or durable it leads you to believe. ... show more

I immediately put these together once they were delivered - I've been very anxious to replace the old shelving I was using for seed starting and I'm hoping these will fit the bill. I've opted to create two units, one with 5 shelves and the other with 3. This flexibility in design configurations is a plus in my book. I abhor product assembly -I'm not good at it and I absolutely hate doing it. This shelving could not have been easier to assemble. No hardware. No tools. Put both units together in about 15 minutes. Yay! The shelf connectors are plastic. All poles are hollow steel (or some other metal). The shelving material is akin to chicken wire - very lightweight, very VERY flexible metal (of some sort). Four plastic clips are used on each shelf to hold the chicken wire shelving on its frame and they work well - easy to put on, easy to take off, snap tight and stay in place. I'm a huge fan of the open design - since I'm using this shelving to get seeds started in my basement, I've hung the grow lights from the bottom of four of the shelves, and the open design allows for more light from all sides. Max weight capacity of the chicken wire shelving is 22 pounds - between the lights and the seeds, these units will work well; however, this shelving material doesn't work for small and/or lightweight items. I had a number of smaller items fall over when I placed a heavier item on the same shelf (flexibility wobble) and some small items were simply impossible to place given the gaps in the wire - there's not enough material to allow certain items to stand up properly. Another item of note: given this design and all the flexibility that exists within it, you cannot move it without taking everything off - there are no wheels, so to push or pull the unit when loaded is impossible - the entire things collapses at its weakest point(s). I've had a wardrobe rack that's off a similar design and I learned early on about this limitation. Unfortunately, it's inherent in this product, as well. Pick a place for it and leave it there or unload it all before you move it. Lastly, the price point..... I hate commenting on that because pricing seems to change regularly but at the current price point ($79.99), I would pass on this. You can get very heavy duty all metal shelving units at a similar price point and they are WAY MORE sturdy - you might not get as many shelves for the dollar, but the quality is higher.
