All mamas trying to get the best - hear me when I say this is NOT it. Baby was horribly uncomfortable at 2 months, looked crunched up, and barely fit after 5 months. Uppababy has an amazing reputation - rightfully so. Good products, great customer service. I scheduled multiple consults with their car seat specialists explaining my baby was crunched up in this car seat. It was terrifying, and they took it seriously but always said “the baby looks as it should in the seat.” The seat had just been released a month or so before my baby was born, so I think they were genuinely surprised at my negative experience. Now they are openly acknowledging (as they should) that this car seat IS NOT RIGHT. Thank you, Uppababy, but also, more PSA is needed so other parents know better than to buy this. Uppababy is sending foam pieces to people who have the car seat to try to help the posture of the little one. They say they’ve received feedback and this will help. I sure hope it does. In the meantime, my experience was that we borrowed a friends Mesa V2 - MUCH BETTER FIT. I felt like I splurged on the “new, top of the line” and paid the price. I tried to return but it was past the window. This was very disappointing. Overall, a lot of regret. My other uppababy purchases are much better, and their other car seats probably are better. PS. It’s also very difficult to install with the load leg. Never seemed to want to be level. ... show more

I have the upper baby vista stroller. So I definitely wanted an upper baby car seat for the ease of attaching it by just clicking it in without adapters. We were gifted the upper baby Mesa V2 originally. I waited for five months patiently for the Mesa Max to be released as it looked like it was very similar to the Nuna RX lite, which had a ton of upgraded safety features and conveniences compared to the other baby car seats. Upon receiving the max, there were several things that disappointed us, and we contemplated returning it, and just keeping the V2 or buying the Nuna. Below is my breakdown of the pros and cons of the two upper baby car seats we have. Mess V2: Although it was very nice, there were certain features, and I didn’t care for about it. The main one being the strap that tightens and loosens the harness. It was extremely difficult to try to grab when it was fully retracted in order to tighten it. It needed a pen or something thin and cylinder that could slide through the strap in order to give you some sort of leverage to be able to pull it. We would end up having to reach underneath the car seat and try to pull the strap from under the car seat, by the thread part, which isn’t supposed to be how you do it. We struggled each and every time we tried to use his car seat with the strap. The shade hood is nice, but does not come as far forward as many other car seats. This was not a dealbreaker. However, it’s something to be noted. This car seat base does not have a rebound bar safety feature when in the vehicle, nor a load leg. Both provide extra safety in the event of a crash. The upgrade max version does include these as well as the Neuner competitor car seat. Although these are probably not needed, as many people survived for several decades without these features in car seats. However, after researching and having the option to buy one with it, I decided I wanted one. Mesa Max: Pros, it includes the extra safety features similar to its competitor car seat. It has a load leg on the base as well as a higher foot plate, which is an extra rebound bar. It has a longer shade canopy to provide more privacy and shade. Although it does feel cheaper than the V2 material. I bought the Greyson color, which is supposed to be an upgraded material, and I’m not happy with it. It feels a bit rough compared to the V2 and it collects lint like crazy! Our V2 did not collect lint like this. They improved the tightening strap for the harness tremendously!! I absolutely love this upgraded change. It is super easy to not only tighten, but also to loosen the straps now. They changed the pieces on the sides that you can temporarily insert the harness straps into to hold them while you get the baby in and out of. Both the V2 and the max were easy to use. I’m not sure that I necessarily have a preference, maybe the max… The headrest protection is way bigger on the max, which is one of the reasons I liked it, and although I like the extra safety, now having it, it makes it challenging to get the baby in and out of. It’s very hard to get the straps on their shoulders due to the headrest also. All in all the max feels much cheaper for some reason than the V2. The V2 feels like better quality and more solid. The load leg does rattle a bit if you do not have the car seat attached while you’re driving, keep that in mind. The headrest slides up and down to adjust it for when the baby gets taller. We hate this new way of adjusting it! It does not click in securely as you change the height levels. It just slides up and down as you pull and push. Which has caused it to adjust lower during travel and storing the car seat if anything slightly leans on it. The V2 worked differently. You pulled a little strap as you adjusted the headrest, and then it will click into place securely. Overall, we are not happy with the max. We contemplated returning it, and just keeping the V2 or buying the Nuna RX. I really wish I went with the Nuna RX. The reason I did not was because you needed an additional adapter for my particular stroller. And I didn’t feel like having to buy the extra accessories for the cost of everything. Obviously, without owning the Nuna I do not know if there are things I would dislike about it, but I see so many people with it who seem very happy. When I saw it in the store and held it, it just seem like it was made much better than the new upper baby Max car seat. ... show more

I’m so disappointed on this car seat and Uppababy overall! I bought a whole travel system from them and was really excited for it! However this car seat has a huge risk of asphyxiation! My babys chin stays really down on her chest and she cries a lot on the seat, turning completely red and even having foam on her mouth. I cannot return the seat through Amazon (bought it way in advance of baby being born) and now im hoping Uppababy will make this right and issue a refund. They “discontinued “ this car seat and they are hiding the true reason but it’s due to this position issue! I lost so much trust in this brand. They say they have an excellent customer service, I will update the post if they make it right. ... show more
