If you want to change the backlight time, you can press and hold "UP" and "DOWN" button at the same time to enter backlight time setting, then press "UP" and "DOWN" to select the backlight time (bL-0 =10 minutes, bL-1=1 hour, bL-2=4 hours, bL-3=8 hours, bL-4=always on), finally press the "COST" to save the backlight time settings.
  • Overload protection: When the power of the appliance exceeds the overload power, the LCD will display OVERLOAD to warn the user. All the buttons will quit working and can only be workable when you lower or remove the load power. The default overload power is 3680W and is adjustable from 0 to 3680W. In general, you need to set the overload power to 1800W before using. Just press the "function" button for more than 3 seconds to enter the setting.
  • Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure.

I felt the instructions left a bit to be desired, but nevertheless, this was a great purchase. They explain the definition of each function, but don't tell the average user what this means to them. Whether you chose to program the price of electricity, or use a simple formula, (Google Ohms Law) you can easily find out what it costs per hour, day or month to own a plugged in appliance. Many things in your home use power, even when turned off. TVs, stereos, computers etc are all "Power Vampires". Coupled with a Wi-Fi plug and Alexa, I'm able to turn things around the house off at night, or other periods of non-use. I needed a power meter to check the amp and watts draw of a microwave oven in the RV. The readings from the meter I received were very close to the specs listed on the label of the appliance. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable leaving something like this plugged in continuously, so I plan to only use it to spot test power draws as needed and then unplug and put it away for another day. In my opinion, the instructions were good, the meter was easy to use, and the backlit screen was very easy to read. The little plastic reset tool must have fallen out of the box somewhere along the line, but that's no big deal to me and I'm happy with this purchase and find it to be a good value for my particular needs. ... show more

Nice piece of equipment. Some features I will look for in an improved model: 1.Ability to download data for analysis and 📊 graphing via Bluetooth, wifi, cable. 2. Accumulated time/days is only measured when there is power usage. An added feature would be real time log of total time from start of logging. Without this feature, a manual log (i.e start/stop times) is necessary to calculate average daily/annual power/cost. Works great and is accurate. Display is large and easy to read. You can setup currency amounts so you can see real-cost. I used it on a hottub I though was costing me about $100 more a month on electricity and it turns out it was only 15.00 a month! Very handy!
