    • You'll want a good torque drill
Used these to avoid having to use post hole diggers on smaller projects. We have a lot of river bottom clay beneath our top soil, so a regular heavy duty drill needed a heavier duty drill to get the job done. I'd be wary of burning out any drill using it to drive a large number of holes in clay/rocky soils. It does well in clearing and getting footing started on the projects I've used it on. But you do need a tool with low end torque to negotiate anything but loam. ... show more

    • Excellent tool, can make the perfect hole for a plant from a 6" or 8" container
I got this garden auger because I had previously gotten a set of small augers, and they were the best garden tool I had ever gotten. This auger is larger than them so it will be excellent for making holes for the plants that come in larger pots that are 6" or 8". Making a hole to plant something that is in a pot this large is an onerous task. However, this auger will make the perfect hole for a plant in this large a container. You simply put it on your cordless drill and it makes the perfect hole with straight sides so you can slip the plant in. This is a game changer and time saver. For large pots like this my husband used to have to use the fence post digger to make the appropriate hole (a whole lot of work). Here in Alabama there is a small window of time in the morning when I can be outside before it's too hot to work in the garden. I'm super happy I found this tool. ... show more

    • What a time saver! Quite sturdy.
Perfect for putting smaller potted plants into the ground and I've also used it to start the holes for a few 4x4 posts that I've put into the ground lately before switching to my manual post hole digger to get the depth I needed. Definitely requires the use of both hands for those times when the soil is harder and especially if you hit a root or rock. Very happy with the tool and wish I'd have gotten one of these years ago. I ordered the garden auger to help with digging holes to plant flower bulbs. As it's kinda late in the year for planting the ones I have it will be great to use next year. I have not used this in the flower bed just yet but did a test run checking it's fit in my drill and everything was good. It is well made, fits in my drill and turns when pushing the button on the drill on I don't foresee any issues with it working as it should. ... show more

    • Drills holes in dirt!
We are continuously expanding our garden beds and probably plant a couple hundred bulbs a year. We have used a variety of bulb planting devices and have found the auger bits work the best. Wanted to try out the different design auger on this one as the others tend to fall off if reversing to remove from ground. So far, the bit has worked well. I would say my only real complaint is that this bit is several inches shorter than my other and winds up with the chuck in the dirt. The attaching point to the drill is slightly smaller in diameter - which actually makes it easier to tighten a keyless chuck. Great if it winds up being just as strong. ... show more

I had several dozen small sized potted plants to plant on our side yard. I faced the nightmare of shovel digging tons of little holes. This drill attachment comes to the rescue. My soil isn't overly rocky in this space so the bit burned through the soil like a hot knife through butter. Admittedly I did change from my battery powered drill to a regular plug in drill so I could get some additional horsepower. Each hole is taking less that 10 seconds and is just fantastic.
