I don't know where they got their manual tire changer this is designed for, but it won't fit mine like they show in the pictures... Can't test it, so can't tell you how well it works. When using the threaded pipe to secure the tire to the changer, this setup does not fit over that pipe. If you use this without securing the tire, then there is nothing keeping the tire from spinning on the changer. So the main pipe is too small... By quite a bit.

Let me be clear: The product won't work out of box as is! Everything in the kit is GREAT EXCEPT for one which is fatal. And if the seller can improve this one, it would be a five star. The center pipe of this duck head kit is supposed to sit around the center post of an existing tire changer as an upgrade attachment. I have the Pittsburg manual tire changer (a classic model every duck head kit is based on) with a central post of 50mm OD. However, the pipe in this kit is only 49mm ID. The kit won't work just by sitting on the tire changer (as the product pictures suggest); you have to tighten down the central post onto the centering cone so the wheel/tire won't move during the de/mounting process. Without a good fitment, this whole kit won't work! After more than a hour grinding down the paint and metal of the post, it still wouldn't go into the pipe easily. While I was able to hammer it in partially, it's stuck inside and now too long for the duck head to reach the rim/bead. What I did in the end was to tighten down the center post as is and hold the duck head pipe with bare hands while pushing the bar/lever to move the duck head forward. In the end, I was able to mount two low-profile tires successfully. But it could have been a very smooth process without all these struggles if the pipe were only 2mm bigger, i.e. 51 or 52mm ID. I could have given it a one star because of this but the product is perfect in everything else, the welding, construction quality, and little details like the locking knobs, bolts and especially the centering cone. I hope the seller can improve on this and make this little change, which I believe will be a five star.

It's not clear how anyone has reviewed this positively. What is clear is that all but one reviewer so far have not used this thing except for the guy who rebuilt it to actually work. Which is what you need to do because it doesn't fit on the harbor freight/princess auto/whatever rebrand manual tire changers that have been getting sold for the last 5 years. Maybe the older ones had a smaller diameter main tube and this fits them? But definitely not the new ones.

I recently got the duck head kit with the aluminum centering cone for changing tires on my vehicles and I’ve been really impressed with it. The kit works with tires from 16 to 21". The nuts on the adjustable slider are welded in three spots, I think I am going to run a bead all the way around each nut, I have seen this part fail on other reviews. I am also going to put a new hole on the side of the adjuster and weld a nut there too so the lever doesn't keep hitting the bar. The steel is nice and thick though. The aluminum centering cone the wheel precisely aligned. And the 49mm diameter of the center round tube fits perfectly with the tire changer. It has a team that supposedly will answer you in 24-hours for support if you had a question, and the 30-day return guarantee gave me confidence if I have an issue. Overall, this is a great kit & has made tire changing a lot easier and faster.

This upgrade to my manual tire changer has been something that I’ve wanted for a while but I don’t have the welding skills to build one that would look good. This tire changer upgrade fit my tire changer but it didn’t allow me to tighten the assembly, I’ll have to figure out how to modify things so that the center screw attachment can hold the wheel and the upgrade on the tire changer. Another thing that I found was that the mount for the duck head should have been welded with a slight angle so that the duck head could fit the wheel even better while it was rotating around the edge of the rim. Lastly the mounting bracket for the duck head fits the duck head that comes with the kit, it tried to see if I could use the duck head I already had and found that it required a larger mounting bracket. Now that I’ve got the negatives out of the way I’ll mention the good points of this tire changer upgrade…the horizontal and vertical adjustments to get it to fit my wheel was easy, this has nice levers on the hold down bolts for both the horizontal adjustment and the vertical adjustments, this makes it super convenient to not have to drag out more tools. The metal parts for this upgrade are nice and thick and so far are welded nicely, so I hope this will hold up to whatever tires I try on it. Overall this is a nicely manufactured manual tire changer upgrade but I have noted some issues that make it not a slam dunk for my tire changer.

I'm giving 5 stars based solely on look and feel. I have not actually tried to use it yet as I need to adapt it to my non-standard tire changer and have not done so yet. The build quality is decent. Metal thickness, welds, paint and so on all look good. The duck bill is a medium-heavy plastic. So maybe good for medium duty use. The thing that could be improved are instructions. There's none. So you have to figure out assembly and use yourself. It really wouldn't be that hard to include a one pager or something.
