Replacing a cheap plastic extraction head with this stainless steel upholstery tool made a difference when clearing out stains from vehicle seats. The heavy metal construction handles strong suction without flexing or letting air leak away, which is a clear step up from polycarbonate attachments that eventually crack under pressure. Looking through the clear window on top makes it easy to track the dirty water pulling out of the fabric so it is clear when a section is completely dry or needs more cleaning. The brass valve triggers the spray cleanly without leaving puddles or dripping. While there can be quality variances with these metal tools, the bottom edge on this one is completely smooth and free of any burrs that might snag delicate upholstery threads. For seventy dollars, the heavy construction provides great long term value compared to brittle plastic alternatives that constantly need replacing.

First thing's first- this is EXTREMELY well built. The all metal construction inspires confidence and it feels like a proper tool in the hand. Every component is built with high quality materials. The hose is of particular note. It is very thick and robust. Nothing on this extractor is going to be breaking anytime soon. Or ever. There is a rubber grip on the handle that is nice. It's nothing special, but that's fine. It doesn't need to be. It's there, it works, and that's all you need. It's very easy to use, just make sure you're running the right equipment. You may need adapters on certain machines. The viewing window is more than generous, giving you a visual reference to see how the job is progressing. It needs to be noted that I have personally not used this in any steam function, so my review is based entirely upon the dry vac. However, as noted previously, the hose is very sturdy. The valve handle is also well made. There is no grinding or ill fitted feeling to be found anywhere. Simple pull the handle and the valve opens. Let go and it closes itself. The head itself is made from thick metal. It is polished to a smooth surface... mostly. The surface that will be touching upholstery does have a couple areas that concern me. There are just a couple metal spurs that jut out and could easily rip what it's touching. Definitely keep an eye out for that. And while it doesn't affect performance or usability in any way, the polishing of the entire head leaves quite a lot to be desired. It is very sloppy and uneven. Mine even has a couple of pits in the metal. Like I said, it will not affect how it operates, but I have to dock a star for that and the sharp surface. In whole, this feels like the kind of tool you only need to buy once. I do recommend it, but I also highly recommend checking for sharp spurs before actually directly touching any surfaces with it.

I have been using a commercial grade Adam’s Polishes extractor (Mytee) and they included a solid metal extractor hand wand. This SMZTools brand one with the window is definitely a game changer. Actually seeing the material coming thru makes a difference with ensuring that most of the soap and nastys have been extracted thoroughly. This fit my existing suction and water line just fine. This kit is also great if you’re building your own DIY setup with a water pump (or hose connection) and a shop vac.
