I have been on a kick buying jackets and coats this year since I haven't bought any in a few years and those I had were worn and outdated. Of the coats I bought, this is my favorite for warmth on the coldest days of Chicago weather. Although we are in the Chicago area, we are closer to Wisconsin, so in the coldest months we often get temperatures well below 0 degrees. This coat is plenty warm for this weather, and blocks the cold winds of Chicago weather. I am 5'2", and usually wear a small or x-small in t-shirts. I ordered the small in this coat and it is plenty roomy to wear a sweatshirt or sweater under it. If I wear a long sleeved t-shirt, it doesn't feel too bulky. So, what do I really love about this coat: 1) It has the look of an expensive Carhart coat, but the outer shell feels more like a soft suede than a stiff canvas. My husband has a few Carhart coat, and I like this one much better. 2) The quilted lining is very warm, well made, and looks nice. 3) The hood is large, but the fur can be removed if you like. Since the hood lays flat when not used and the fur is fluffy and looks nice, I leave the fur on it. In the picture I didn't pull the drawstrings on the hood, but you can pull these strings to close up the hood for added warmth. In addition, the hood is lined with the same lining as the coat, so it's very warm and wind resistant. 4) The sleeves are fully lined with the same quilted lining as the rest of the coat. Plus the sleeves have a cuff that prevents wind from getting into the sleeve. 5) There is one pocket on the inside that's large enough to hold a phone. This pocket has a snap to hold it closed. There are two lined pockets each side of the outside of this coat, that can hold a phone, gloves or mittens, or a wallet. These pockets also have a snap closure. 6) There is a drawstring at the waist on the inside of the coat that can be used to give the coat some shape and style. Some jacket and coats have these drawstrings on the outside which I think looks a bit tacky. 7) The zipper works well without sticking and the barrel closures are a nice look. In my opinion, this is the nicest coat I have for really cold weather, and I would definitely recommend it. The color I bought is khaki and I very much like it. UPDATE 01/11/23: This is the second year I have had this coat. I live in the Chicago area and this year, we had a cold spell with temperatures below zero with a wind chill below -20 degrees. Boy, did I appreciate the warmth of this coat!! The wind didn't get through it at all. What I love about this coat is that it is super warm when you need it, but not too warm when temperatures are not below zero. I also love that this coat is not so bulky that it makes me look fat. I have used the drawstrings, and this coat is very stylish. It has become my favorite coat for cold weather. I would still very much recommend this coat. I live in FL and while I packed for a full winters stay in Minnesota, I realized, I didn't have a winter coat! I had to buy online and this one is perfect on price, warm, classy and I am 5'8 and 120lbs and I have long arms00I was worried about sizing because of my actual usual size of small or medium in items--but I ordered a Large and it is PERFECT. Perfect length, fity, warmth, comfort, style and the hood doesn't llo cheesy or cheap but rather very trendy. I also love that the hood lays wide around your head. so it helps with that and faux fur, to block any excess wind. I am on MN and took a nice long walk in 20 degree weather and I never got cold. HOWEVER. ZIPPER HOOD BEWARE. The only thing I am mad at is that while in line at the train station, had 6 pieces of luggage and three draped in areas over my shoulders and chest. (my fault) but the arrangement of bags, and the hood wasn't over my head--i was in FL boarding the train so I had to wear it on to help carry it...well, it broke the zipper and tore the hood off. :/ It is not fixable so I am safety pinning it until I can find a seamstress. This coat is amazing! Just be careful with the hood down and excess bags/totes/etc that might catch and yank at your zippered hood. My fault entirely, so hopefully this helps you avoid wrecking yours. LOVE THIS COAT. I am 45, was born and raised in MN and this is the BEST winter coat I ever had. TY. Now, can you make the same coat without the hood being detachable? lol ... show more

I’m a TA at my son’s elementary school and have recess duty twice a day - keeps me warm! As far as the jacket itself goes, it was great looking and a perfect fit. Not very warm, but I was not in a climate where I needed that. The one problem is the hood is detachable and it does not stay zippered when you want to have the hood on the jacket. Everytime I wore it, my friends were stopping me to zip it up as it was hanging off on the end after having come unzipped on its own. This wasn't a one or 2 time thing, it was EVERY SINGLE TIME I wore the jacket. I finally just took the hood off and wore it without it, which I was not happy about because I bought the jacket specifically because of the hood. I would have returned it had I known before wearing it, that would happen. I definitely don't recommend, unless you don't care about having a hood. ... show more

Nice coat. Fits me good. Only complaint I have is the sleeves were a little too short but nothing an under sweater can’t fix. Came in a package that caused it to be super wrinkled and have not been able to get the wrinkles out. Fur on hood is pretty cheap looking but fortunately the hood unzips.
