I already have 2 high quality back braces from previous back surgeries and didn't need another one. What I was looking for was a compression sleeve, to provide compression/support on longer walks. This is more of a low end back brace. The biggest problem is that you can not wear it against your skin. It's extremely uncomfortable. I'd compare it to metal mesh. If I wear it over my shirt, it's usable. That's not really what I was looking for, but I can repurpose it for yard work duties.

3 1/2 stars Size: Large Pros: It feels like quality material. It doesn't appear like it will fall apart when stretched or used. The velcro is strong enough to hold while tightening. It is breathable material as mentioned. *Also to note* it has 5 structured back vertical ribs. If you have a long torso I imagine this will be even better for you and helpful for support. Cons: slight smell like latex when it comes out of the package, not as noticeable when it is on though so not a big deal. Size Large is supposed to fit 31”-39” waist. I’m on the smaller side of that 34” When tightening, the top part bunched out awkwardly (see picture). This would make for awkward bumping if trying to conceal under clothes (which i’ve done with other similar back braces). The backing of the velcro also sounds like thick paper/plastic so it is noisy when worn. Overall I'm 50/50 on this. The structured ribs in the back could be a real benefit for stronger support that I haven’t seen on other back braces. The fit for this just wasn’t for me.

I have a number of back support belts and this one may be the best of the lot. It fits me well, the velcro holds securely, and the curved metal stays (at least I think they’re metal) fit the curve of my back just right. It feels good when I’m wearing it. As long as everything holds up over time, this will definitely get my “seal of approval” (for what THAT’s worth!). One of the issues I’ve had with all the back braces I’ve tried is their lack of breathability. I don’t think this belt will be any different. I think it’s just the nature of the beast that these wide synthetic belts DON’T breathe regardless of how many holes there are in them. If you’re wearing one when you are physically active, I think you’re going to sweat under the belt. I haven’t tried that with this belt yet. I have a few other, older belts that I’ve sacrificed to hard, dirty jobs like yardwork. This belt is a light gray and I like the way it feels so this is my “dress belt” which I wear when doing less dirty jobs. It has lots of holes in it to provide ventilation, but I’m still skeptical that it will truly breathe during heavy exertion. As noted above, this is an issue common to all these belts, so I’m not deducting any stars from this product for that problem. Overall, at this time, I am very happy with this product. It was a good purchase decision. If it holds up over time, I definitely recommend it and will definitely buy it again when it finally wears out. If it doesn’t hold up over time and use, I will update this review to describe the issues. So far, so good. I’m very happy with this product.

This has some decent support for an achy lower back. You can tighten it for more support. I would think a lower back sleeve would be better since this moves if you sit down and is fastened with velcro.
