Very nice solid tool. I really dislike the common cheap plastic ones that typical sets of connectors throw in and when I saw this I had to get it. It has most every function covered that you would need and won't have to worry about a tab snapping off etc. and even comes apart to not only expose a flat screw driver tip but also turns it into two piece tool to give a bit of leverage. The little silicone tip protectors are a nice touch however one was too loose to even stay on the tool I received. I have a set of silicone plugs that I can utilize if I decide I really need the protectors later on anyway. This tool will be very handy as I mount my new panels.

MC4 I noticed that another reviewer said the tines were not formed correctly and had to bend them with his vise to get the tool to work properly. In spite of all that, he gave it 5 stars. If you have to bend a tool to get it to work, then it is NOT a 5-star tool. My tool had the same problem. The tines were not wide enough at the tips to get it over the sides of the locking tabs. Like the other reviewer, I had to bend the tines out a little (I used pliers) so I could get them started on the tabs. Pushing the tool further made the tabs slide down to a narrower part of the tines, which pushed the tabs together enough so I could pull the connector apart, but, it was not easy. The slot where the tab ends sit is twice as long as the tab ends, there is room, so unless I carefully applied force to keep the tool in place, the tines would slide off the slopes of the tab ends into the gap. The general fit and finish of the metal parts of the tool are OK, but not great. It was stamped out of a piece of flat stock steel and has sharp edges on one side. The tines have some sharp edges too. Maybe the people who gave it 5 stars were just so excited to finally have a metal tool for the task that they over rated it. It works, but it’s not a 5-star tool. H4 Ironically, the tool as it came, was better for disconnecting H4 connectors – the kind that have guards over the locking tabs. The tines fit in between the guard and the tab, then as I pushed the tines further, they compressed the tabs and the connector could be pulled apart. Of course, after I bent the tines out so they would work on the MC4 connectors (no guard), they would not work on the H4.
