So for starters I wanna say this is only my second RD and my first one was a cobra 480i and that thing was terrible. It had no K band filter and I live in a city basically so it was just constantly going off giving false alerts which was annoying and being it was my first detector I didn’t know if it was from the way I set it up. So after watching videos and reading reviews I came to the understanding that they were garbage. So I returned that and purchased this R3 and the difference is literally night and day it’s crazy. R3 has manyyy more features and in my opinion better radar detection range. The K filter actually worked so it’s much more quiet and is super accurate when it comes to police in my area (NJ) which is mainly Ka band and X band. So long story short yes the Uniden R3 is a far more superior product in terms of RD’s, and if your thinking or are gonna purchase a RD then don’t be cheap this was definitely worth the extra $100 dollars I paid and these things basically pay for themselves! ... show more

I've had radar detectors in the past and currently was still using an old Whistler 1743 that I bought years ago. I decided to try this Uniden R3 after watching some Vortex Radar videos online. Let me tell you, this thing is amazing! It alerts for police running radar literally before I can see them with the naked eye! In one instance it alerted on Ka band while I was driving up a long 4-lane roadway going uphill for an officer sitting down the other side of the hill! How does it do that?? This thing is worth it's weight in gold. Make sure you do the firmware update as soon as you take it out of the box. ... show more

    • Great product, hardware looked used and didn't have all of it.
Box looked like it had gotten in a fight and lost, detector itself looked like it was used for 6 months if not more and was missing the mount hardware. I get it's a refurb but the wear and tear of everything looks like I should have bought it used off ebay instead of a refurb. Detector itself has a great feature set. ... show more

Just buy it now don’t think just do it. I’m impressed, I read every single review and watched YouTube videos and still wasn’t sure I made the right choice buying refurbished BUT it literally arrived looking brand new never opened product. Take a minute and set up the advanced settings to your liking. I use the speedometer and compass display love it. I’m notified a mile in advance that a cop is in range. It works great! Being able to mark locations on the gps system comes in handy as well to automatically mute false reads. Looks brand new works flawlessly saves on speeding tickets. A+ ... show more

I was hesitant at first to purchase a refurbished radar detector, but I was very impressed upon receiving my order. It could pass as brand new if it wasn’t for the warranty disclaimer that came in the box. I only returned it because I realized I preferred having directional arrows so I upgraded to the R7(couldn’t find a refurbished one unfortunately), but could not recommend this enough if the arrows aren’t important to you. ... show more
