  • Perfect phone for my MagicJack phone system
Model: D3097
After my old phone finally stopped working, I searched locally and on the internet for a replacement. There were several phones that appealed to me and after reviewing each phones spec's, and then reading what others had to say, I decided on purchasing the Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Caller ID.... The phone comes with a very clear set of instructions, before setting it up I charged the phone overnight (around 15 hours), then the next morning, I plugged the phone in, set it up per the instructions and it works perfectly right out of the box. Several things I really like is that the handset is a normal size not the mini size, the keys are large and easy to type in a number without hitting the wrong key and are lighted. I was able to change the ringer to a more musical ring, (it gives you several choices) which is great, and I was able to raise and lower the sound to my satisfaction. Since I'm hard of hearing being able to adjust the phone's loudness and tone is an added plus, very nice. It was important to me to have the built in answering system, as my phone system is 'MagicJack', which has answering service but I prefer to have it right at my finger tip rather than checking my email for my phone message or dialing the MagicJack message center. The Uniden phone systems Answering machine is great, just look at the phone's screen and I know if there is a message, and a real nice touch is when listening to a message I can slow the message down to understand what is being said, with my old phone many times I had to replay the messages over several times because some people would speak so fast it was hard to understand what the message was about. I really like this phone and the price was perfect. ... show more

  • Best Home Phone Ever
This phone is just incredible. I've had it for about two months, so far. It lights up like a christmas tree when it rings. It has a voice telling you the caller ID name when it rings, and the ringer itself is nice and loud. The battery on the handset is good for about 10 hours when new and fully charged. Reception using the handset is loud and clear, and has an audio boost button that is almost like a minor speakerphone. It does have a speakerphone on both base and handset, but I haven't used it yet as of this time. Love the caller ID, phonebook, and call blocking. Haven't had to use the answer machine, because I have it set up through my cable service. I don't have a hearing problem, but I would imagine this would be a great phone for the hearing impaired. There is an error in the ad, in that it only comes with one handset, but I figured that out on my own before I bought it. Easily one of the best value purchases of my life. ... show more

  • Nice phone, so-so manual
I chose this phone because it offered the features I wanted (answering machine of decent message length and speakerphone). I haven't tried all of the features yet (slow playback, intercom, speakerphone), but I found it easy to use and configure. Particularly, I turned off the call screening and call announcement features. Call screening is sometimes nice to use, but I didn't want it on for all calls. There were a few small issues. First, the "leave a message" tone is a bit high and doesn't come through my cellphone very well. I used a landline to figure out it was working properly. Next, the "TAD" indicator, used to show you have voicemail on a telco system, is always on and can't be or won't reset. This isn't a big deal since I don't use this feature. The manual seems to be out of sync with the phone firmware. To wit: there is no mention of using caller ID to set the date and time; It doesn't mention using the answering machine back-up button to walk backwards through the menus; The trash can button (to delete messages) also deletes caller ID entries, but that isn't in the manual; There is no mention that the play/pause button flashes red to indicate a message is waiting (this might be true for TAD messages as well). Caller ID lists names only in the first level menus and places a * next to new calls. However, you have to go one level down to get the name and number. I have a separate caller ID box that always give you new callers (name and number) first, even if they have called before, so you can review the new calls you received. No so here. There isn't any mention of it, but the trash can button (to delete messages) also works to delete unwanted caller ID's. After a power outage, the phone wants you to confirm the date and time. It keeps time (at least for my 1/2 hour outage), but it still wants date and time confirmed. Another annoyance is the ringer volume on the cordless unit. It can't be set in increments of less than 3 bars. 3 bars is too loud and the next lower setting is ringer off. What's the point of having smaller increments if you can't set them. I couldn't find a way to do it. The phone works quite well, and, other than the minor irritation of the manual not matching the phone very well and the cordless phone ringer volume, it was very easy to set up and use. The annoyances are why it got 4 of 5 stars. ... show more

  • AWESOME PHONE
Model: D3097
We've had our phone for about a month now. Best phone I've ever had. I read reviews saying it was hard to use the functions on the phone, I suggest you keep the instructions near phone for about a week...that way if your not sure what to do, directions are close at hand. My husband is hard of hearing in one ear and this phone works great...he could never talk to our grand daughter cause he could'nt understand her, now he can! Awesome!!! You can see the buttons and incoming calls without squinting. I told my kids it was an old person phone ( I'm only 58) they laughed until they tried it. My 28 yr old says this will be her next home phone. As far as difficulty of use, I had no problems figuring out how to use, and usually did without the directions. Common sense and easy functions on the phone were self explanatory. And last, but certainly not least the color of the phone matches my kitchen, it can't get any better than that (LOL) ... show more

  • D3098S DECT 6.0 Corded/Cordless phone
This phone was exactly what I was looking for, a desk phone with answering system, caller ID and a cordless handset. The phone was very easy to set up and begin using right away. Both the desk phone and the cordless handset allow people with normal hearing, a slight hearing loss, a large hearing loss and those with hearing aids to use the phone with a few easy minor adjustments. Another advantage with the cordless handset is that it is slightly larger than a typical cordless handset. This feature has several additional benefits. The buttons are larger (this is true for the desk phone also) and therefore easier to use for people with some arthritis. The larger buttons also helps you see numbers much better. Additionally the buttons are back lit. This also helps you see and use the buttons better. The desk phone has a light up feature when there is an incoming phone call. This as an added benefit for individuals with a hearing impairment. I'm extremely happy with my purchase ... show more

  • It's okay, but not great...
Model: D3098
Boy can I pick em. This is the second Wall Mountable Caller ID phone I have ordered. And I have issues with it also. The first phone was a very attractive AT&T phone that when wall mounted, the display was unreadable unless squatting down to view it from a 45 degree angle. It probably functions fine as a desk phone but was completely unusable as a wall phone. I'm still trying to get an RMA number to return it. The Amazon seller is being a pain. This phone is much more usable with a nicely back lighted display that is readable looking straight on when wall mounted. I have only had it for a few hours, so these are my initial thoughts. I will come back and edit this review if I find anything more that is note worthy. First, it is misleading to say it will work during a power outage. Maybe it will, but I took that meant it runs off of the phone companies' line power. It will not show anything without being plugged into an A/C outlet. There is an adapter that has a BLACK cord that must run up the wall. NUTS! If had known that I would NOT have ordered it. That was number one on my screening criteria list. Second was having a display that is readable when wall mounted. I would have never even thought about that before my first phone debacle. Fortunately, this one has a good display. It can be tilted up if used on the desk, or flattened down if hung on the wall. Huge improvement over the first phone I tried. My next grip is a small one, or should I say a small missing one. Where is the short 3" pigtail that is used when wall mounting a phone. This phone only came with the long wall to phone cord. I don't want the extra cord hanging from the phone, and there is just to much of it to push up under the phone. I will have to order one. My next problem is about the wall mount. There are two holes on the back of the phone for wall mounting, one top and one lower. That seems right, except they are 3.25 inches apart and will not fit the STANDARD wall mounting plate that has spacing about 5" center to center. Why have standards if no one uses them? So I have only the top hole over the post. I feared this would let the phone swing side to side, but it does not seem too. So as long as the phone does not fall off the wall, I will let this issue slide by. My next grump is about the Caller ID. Seems that you have to go through a bunch of steps to see who has called. Push menu, down arrow, down, down, down, until Caller ID is located, then push Ok, and so on. I think the Caller ID should be the default screen on the phone with simple up, down, delete buttons. How simple would that be? This CID has to many steps to be handy. I will likely use the CID on the phone in the den. This phone lives in the kitchen. Which brings me to the cord. I have seen quite a few reviews where they complained about the short cord. I thought this was stupid, but now I see the problem. I think this cord is shorter than OEM cords used to be. Guess I will have to buy one long enough to reach across the kitchen. I'm just hoping the phone will not get pulled off the wall, with only one of the mounting holes connected. Another observation is how far it sticks out from the wall. They can build a cell phone that is as thin as a book of matches, but this thing sticks out from the wall 4.4 inches. Come on now! It looks big, bulky and is fairly unattractive, especially when viewing it from the sides where it is gray and under cut. The front is completely flat with no contours at all, and the sides just drop off at a 90 degree angle for about a half inch and then cut back under. To bad they did not put more effort into the appearance of this phone. I believe it would look much better on a desk rather than on a wall. This phone does not have the big buttons that have become so popular. The phone I'm sending back was more attractive overall, and had the big buttons, but the backlight did not show through the button pads and so the backlight was for the most part worthless. The buttons on this phone are almost clear and you can really see the numbers with the backlight. When lit up, the button pads are glow yellow, just like the picture. The numbers are black and show up well. The Caller ID / Display LCD screen is lit up white. Our kitchen is a little dark in the day with the light off and the LCD screen is hard to read with the light off. I think the Display light could just stay on since it is powered by the house A/C, but is goes off quickly when not in use. There is no menu option for that, and no button I have found illuminate the display. Although, lifting the handset will turn on the back lights, but only briefly. Another poorly thought out feature, is the ability to "announce" who is calling. Sounds really cool and quite useful So I don't have to get up to see who is calling, righ?. Well, I just got a call while writing this review, and it announced that a "Wireless Caller" was calling. Really? It does not even say the number. I will end up turning this feature off (I did see it in the menu) since it is pretty much worthless and is more annoying then helpful. I have not tried the cordless phone because I'm really only interested in having a CID wall phone. And I NOT thoroughly tested all the features on this phone yet. I probably won't even use the answering machine since we all ready have one that we accustomed to using. However, if I find anything worth mentioning, I will come back and update this review. But my requirements for this phone are low because we primarily use our sell phones. Added 7July14: I found a really useful feature on this phone. You can block calls you don't want. I have completely filled the Blocked Number memory. I find this to be a very useful feature. The think I don't like is that the number will ring twice before it gets disconnected. I would prefer no ring at all. I have been thinking about about buying another phone just to be able to block more numbers. Bottom line: I plan to keep this phone because it will do what I wanted it to do, a wall phone with caller ID. If I walk over and look at the display, I can see who is calling. It does show the number of the "Wireless Caller" on the Caller ID. Added 7July14: I should mention that I got a factory refurbished phone that was just like new. I paid around $50 for it. If I had paid full price, I would probably be sending it back. ... show more

  • Love this phone has all the right features and is affordable
Model: D3097
Love this phone and has all the right features and does not overwhelm you with too many buttons or confusing to use, I especially like the feature where you can slow down the message to understand what fast talkers are saying which is a frequent problem for me but not with this phone, hope they keep this feature as it is awesome, this phone also has another feature that I like and that is Boost feature which helps in those times when the reception is not clear or the other persons phone has bad sound quality or you are in a noisy environment. his Uniden phone has another awesome feature, you can see by sight that you have a call incoming as the phone flashes while you don't necessarily have to hear it ring to know you have a call, love that feature, it's awesome when you are in a noisy room and can not hear the phone ring and the light is big and right so you can not miss that call, I especially like the big buttons with easy to read numbers, another plus for this phone when it comes to features, and when turning up the phone volume you can see a digital graph that shows you how high the volume is, and this phone is especially light easy to hold than other previous Uniden phones I have owned, so far this is the best Undien phone I have purchased. I even like the style of the brand logo on the phone, but that is not important but something nice to see on the base of phone, I fully recommend this phone, and when this brand of phone does not work or too old I will be a repeat customer of Uniden phones, hopefully they will keep this model of phone. ... show more

  • nice phone for my elderly mother-in-law
Model: D3097
I wanted a new phone for my mother-in-law who is very arthritic and nearly deaf. I was happy that this phone offered a higher decibel volume and it does seem very clear. I also liked that you can select for the answering machine base to announce the caller and that it flashes as well. The buttons are big and well spaced for her arthritic fingers to peck out numbers when she needs too. I would have liked a button for the contact list, instead of having to go through the menu feature. Which will be a learning curve and means a couple extra steps (minus one star). The white or black option is nice, too. I thought the white looked easier to read. Would also be nice if they would bundle the extra phone (maybe even two) with the answering base and phone. I choose this Uniden Loud and Clear system (the answering machine/phone and extra phone) over the Clarity because radio shack said Clarity phones would not link together as a unified voicemail system, except through the digital voice mail you set up with your phone provider (not on the answering machine base of the physical phone). My mother-in-law, as many senior citzens are these days, is not tech savvy and teaching her how to get through the voice mail system on her land line account is not a job I want to tackle, so I searched for another big button/extra decibel cordless phone with an ID caller/answering system that was expandable to two or more phones. The reviews for this Uniden model were very favorable, so I leaped. I will update when my mother-in-law has had time to assimilate and discover what downfalls, if any, are inherent with this system. ... show more
