The reason I chose this thermal camera over the SEEK thermal camera was because I heard about the privacy nightmare with the SEEK app. The UNI-T app only requests for camera access and for file storage if you want to save pictures. It doesn't ask for location or anything else and it works offline. They have the apk file on their website, so just download it and save it and then you will always be able to use this camera even on some old Android phone with no internet access or no app store access. If UNI-T goes out of business, no problem because you'll have the apk file saved and it doesn't need to contact any servers or anything. This simple approach is so much better than all the data collection crap you see from other companies. Thank you UNI-T. As for the camera, it does the job as expected. I've already discovered some things about my home with it. Very useful tool. One issue is when you first load the app, it is in Chinese. Hit the first menu item in the settings and that will let you switch back to English, and then it will stay that way. Also I found the saved pictures to be cropped for some reason, so I just screenshot or screen record instead if I want to save something. That won't reduce the quality because the resolution of the sensor is so low anyways, as it is with all thermal cameras in this price range. Overall it is an excellent value for the money. It works well, and the app apk is available to save offline and it doesn't ask for ridiculous things like your location data to be able to use the camera -- shame on you SEEK! I use this gadget to find air leaks and thermal loss. It works excellent, very good resolution and it's super easy to use and has a lot of cool features. App is very good once you switch the language to English, which is super easy. I highly recommend this thermal imager!

The reviews here made me feel like this was not going to work very well, and this is my first time using a thermal camera so maybe I SHOULD be more disappointed, but, I was surprised how accurate this is. My niece was sick and her mom took her temperature, and this was only different from the thermometer reading by 0.2 degrees (F), which, if you took 5 readings from the thermometer might give you a similar variation. You can even see your foot steps after you walk on the carpet. The software could be fancier, better resolution or whatever people say here, but it does more than what I need it for, so, I am happy with it. I use it for work, but dont need it to be super accurate, just to see if something it body temperature vs room temperature, and this does the job beyond my expectations. ... show more

I was worried that this would be a waste of money. Well the first day with it and I was impressed. I used it to identify four bad bearings at work of various types. The first four I found with a 5 degree Fahrenheit higher temperature than those around it I pulled. They were all worn out.
