As expected. Sheer enough to allow natural light but with enough opacity to provide privacy. I live in a rural area - closest neighbors are hundreds of yards away - so privacy isn't a priority. I've purchased curtains in the past I've had to return because of uneven seams that caused curtains not to drape well or uneven hems. Seams and hems on these curtains perfectly straight.
