This is one of the ultimate toys for those bored at home, but, also for those trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. What is not advertised is the prep time to get the foods and meat ready for the process. However, I digress…….. THIS IS THE MOST FUN I HAVE HAD IN A WHILE. In my opinion, this thing pays for itself in the first few uses. I also caught it on an Amazon special for $109. GREAT BUY! I set it up around the third day after it arrived and immediately began slicing fruits and veggies to get the process started. With eight (8) trays, you can make a startling amount of snacks in a single pass. It does take trial and error. Some fruits and veggies come out crispy and others with more moisture content, come out chewy. Either way, it is healthy and there are no preservatives or added sugar in the end product. I have owned it for only two weeks and I am happy with the results. This will also motivate you to purchase a professional set of knives, due to needing to slice products “Thin” to get the BEST results. If you are lazy and cut thick pieces, you get what you asked for. This product is EXCELLENT! My results may not be typical of what others have experienced, but look at my photos for the proof. I made a couple batches of veggie and fruit chips using bananas, strawberries, plums, apricots, mangos, zucchini, squash, and even fresh potatoes to make chips. My results were: CRISPY: potatoes, strawberries, white peaches, apricots, zucchini, squash CHEWY: plums, mangos, bananas, sweet potatoes NOTE: The products that come out crispy are AWESOME. However, the recipe book suggests they be stored in plastic bags or containers when not being eaten. I tried this. Doing this holds in ambient moisture from the air and causes your crispy treats to become chewy. Not a deal breaker, but just thought you should know. The unit arrives with a recipe book. Most of the recipes call for sugar and salt (the stuff we are trying to escape). I use the natural herbs and sweeteners ie. Cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, ground cloves, dried ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, etc… If you want to remain healthy, lose the salt and sugar. The fruits and veggies maintain their natural flavor and are great while watching movies or snacks on-the-go. COMPOST: Now what are we to do with all the peels, seeds, rinds, and ends that come off the fruits and veggies? SIMPLE. After your snacks are done, lay out the peels and seeds on the trays and dry them as well. Once they are done, put the crispy remains in a blender and it produces powdered organic fertilizer for your plants and garden. I BET NO ONE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT! If you want to see your plants thrive, give them some organic matter that does not have a LOT of chemical additives and other harmful ingredients for our ecosystem. I have had this units for a couple weeks now and it have worked quite well. I love how the air blows horizontal instead of vertical like the round dehydrators I used to use. Ever tray dries evenly. I made a load of 7 full trays of beef jerky using 157 deg setting for 6 hours. That was top round and bottom round steak sliced about 1/8 inch thick. The 1/4 inch slices I made next took about 7 hours at the same temp. I found the best thing to do to reduce the amount of mess in the bottom of the machine was to wrap the bottom tray with foil to catch most of the drips. I read one review that said it was hard to clean. I find it easy myself but you do have to be smart and help reduce the dried on mess. Afterall, it is supposed to dry things and that liquid that drips out of foods will get dried on the surfaces it lands on. I am able to make a gallon bag and half a quart bag full of beef jerky just using 7 of the 8 trays. It doesn't matter whether I have 1 tray or 7 trays full, it dries in the same amount of time due to the efficient way the air blows. I have been using an Ultrean air fryer for over a year no and it has worked great! I figured the dehydrator had to be a good product as well and it sure is! I made some jerky treats for our dogs in it and they love them. I used ground chuck mixed with oatmeal, beef broth and season all powder. It took 12 hours to dry those due to the fat content but they turned out great, and yes, they were messy because of the fat rendering. Next I made some ham jerky treats for them. I caught an after holidays deal on a ham for $1.71 a pound and sliced it and dried it. Didn't need any seasoning on it. Then I bought chicken breasts ( boneless ) for $2 a pound and sliced it and added season all, black pepper and a light sprinkle of onion powder. The chicken took about 8 hours to dry to the crispy texture I was looking for. Both pork and chicken I used 167 deg setting. I enjoy using this machine! Awesome buy when I caught the lightning deal for $135! Chicken jerky treats for my pups. Started with about 10 pounds of chicken breasts from Foothills Meats for $1.99 a pound, sliced them up, added a light dusting of Morton Season All, Badia onion powder and Clover Valley black pepper and dehydrated for 10 hours ( started with 8 hours but some thick piees were not dry yet ). Ended up with about 5 pounds of treats the dogs love. ... show more

I HAD ONE OF THE ROUND ONES WITH THE FAN ON BOTTOM,I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD UNTIL I BOUGHT THIS ONE!!! LOVE IT, NO NEED TO ROTATE SHELVES AND A LOT MORE AREA WITHOUT FAN WHOLES IN MIDDLE OF RACKS.

I live this and it cooks my deer jerky so evenly no rotating. I love it. Wish it had better temp options because you can’t just put it on any temp it has pre set ones
