Beware!! I connected this cord to dusk-dawn timer and a small LED spotlight I used to shine on my flag. I've been using this light for a few years with no issues but I needed to move the light closer to the flagpole. First night it was connected the extension cord started a fire that burned our landscape. Luckily we got to it before it got to the house structure but it was way too close. See pic. I liked the cords when I first received them. They are decently built -- double insulated, sturdy yet still flexible. The build quality certainly is better than my other cords of the same voltage/current rating. The price is good. I would have given it 5 star. I got worried when I hooked it up, running a medium load (9Amp/1000W, which is well below the 13Amp/1625W rated capacity). The male plug end got abnormally warm (in a cool/cold spring evening), and became rather hot the second day during the day time. The female end, as well as the rest of the cord itself, remained very cool under the same load. This basically indicates that while the wires inside the cord are good, the connections to the prongs at the male end is quite weak, producing heat, which certainly is a safety concern. I was hoping this is just one defective cord so I replaced it with the second cord from the same pack (I ordered a 2x pack). It was indeed better, but I can still tell the male plug end is warmer than normal, e.g., clearly warmer than the female end and the rest of the cord. This again indicates that the wires are fine but the connections to the male prongs are weak. To be sure that I was not biased, I swapped in my other cord with the same 13amp/1625W rating (which I thought was cheaply built). It was obviously cooler at the male end, and the temperatures at the female end and the cord itself were about the same as this cord. Given that both cords from the 2x pack showed similar issue (male plug end runs abnormally warm/hot), though one cord is better than the other, it sounds like a potential design or manufacturing issue rather than single defective item. As a result I chose to return the product instead of replace them. For the good build quality of the rest of the cord, I give it 2 star instead of 1 star. ... show more

    • Good solid extension cord for outdoor use

I needed the cording on this to run a security light to an exterior outlet so I bough it specifically to cut and splice into a motion/security light. The insulation is heavy, the wires are solid and so far it has held up well despite the elements (rain and snow). I imagine it would work well with any outdoor extension application but the plug is heavy, the weight of it all is good and it's very easy to cut into and splice if you need it for something like that as well. Each wire (the positive, the neutral and the ground wire) are all well insulated with the exterior rubber as well as interior insulation after you've cut through that. Great to control up to three power cords. Sturdy. We used for Christmas lights. But we plan to keep it outside to use for outdoor projects where we need multiple power tools. I Leezette Lopatic highly recommend UltraPro 25 Ft Extension Cord.

These are so awesome. I am currently using 2 of these 3 outlet outdoor 25 feet extension cords for my outdoor Christmas rope lights, candy cane lights, bush lights, and outside handrails lights. These work wonderfully. I have both of these hooked up to a dawn-dusk outdoor timer. So far so good. The cords are sturdy and it feels like excellent quality. I was shocked that it had 3 outlets. First off the bat; I purchased six of these chords (25ft) total and so far they have really been performing well . I purchased the 25 foot chords because the size fits my needs and they already come with a tree Outlet;( some people are complaining about this, I find it a benefit) I can always extend it With additional chords being careful about not overloading the circuit or the line. now you might say why don't I just get along cord, Well for long runs I do but if I need lighting every 10 feet It's a waste of Electrical cord and money? (Cords are too long) When I do DJ work I usually use two or three chords and I go to one speaker/lites that needs power an extension cord to that and run to the other speaker/lights the same thing lighting for parties the extra three Outlets really come in handy I could use one to extend and the other two do plug-in the speakers and Lighting so for me it's a great advantage to actually have 3 Outlets. it also comes in handy for the holidays and setting up lighting outside we're a long cord really doesn't help if I have to set up lights in different spots of the house once again the three Outlets really come in handy because I have a midpoint that I can access to get electricity to the lights what other types of loads. I also use this for mechanical/ lite Construction/ do-it-yourself projects for lighting,And to run some light tools some people are worried about the cord outside if you're really worried if you always use electrical tape To seal off and you are not using I will buy this product again ... show more
