It really amps up its sound when a movie is playing. Another thing that I really like is the ease of use: it automatically synched with my direct tv remote for volume adjustment and it turns on/off automatically with tv. Just bought this sound system. So far so good. The bass is very good for it's size. Dolby atoms sounds good and sound comes from all angles using the up firing speakers. The unit is easy to setup and connect. It is priced well. Remote control is easy enough to use but the tv remote does most of the volume control. I been looking to upgrade from my tv speakers and wanted something with Dolby Atmos. Searched around a lot then I found this one. First off this is not a room shaker so if your looking for that is is not it but the bass is nice and punchy. This by far the best sound bar I have ever owned. The sound quality is clear and punchy. The surround effects really do work well I watched Peter Jackson's king Kong and I can hear ever little detail from bugs buzzing to the roar of Kong himself. So far I like it. Sounds awesome. Dolby Atmos works as it should I believe. If I sound skeptical, I always am until I've used it for a while. Right now I'm happy with it, mostly. Like other Ultimea products, (I own quite a few sound bars/Subs of this brand), you get more than you pay for, with a few quark's. Installation is easy. I never needed the instructions. I made a mistake on another 5.1 surround system, thinking it was Dolby Atmos. That's on me. But when I got it together, I realized the back speakers weren't true surround. They were just extra left and right that you can turn up and down. So I was skeptical about this purchase here. I'm happy to say the rear speakers here are infact true Dolby Surround and Atmos. The app you can put on your phone doesn't recognize this product. I'm thinking because it's newer? I was a bit bummed on that as I like controlling all my surround bars with one app. Maybe in the future? I'll give it time, see what happens and update my review. But right now, with $100 off coupon, this is a great choice for anyone. I'd recommend. I might get the 7.1.2 model to test out next. We'll see what my budget is like. Just a small update: The app recognizes this system now. That made me happy. I'm still loving this! ... show more

For the price, I am satisfied. It was very easy to connect and get the audio going. The rear speakers and the subwoofer just automatically connected to the sound bar without me having done anything other than plug it all in. I downloaded the Ultimea app and that also connected very easily, and it was very easy to start EQing and controlling the volume of the rear speakers and subwoofer. I must say that there was artifacting in the audio with the HDMI cable that came with the sound bar. I don’t know if it was faulty or just not high-quality enough, so I used a high speed HDMI cable I had laying around, and it went away. Sometimes the rear speakers crackle when the audio is especially bassy and intense. Although I didn’t hear the crackling while listening to music, this system is still not great for music because sometimes the subwoofer just kind of… decides not to put out and leaves a bassless hole in the audio. I didn’t notice this while watching a tv show or movie, but just because I didn’t notice doesn’t mean it wasn’t still happening. All that said, for the price, still satisfied. ... show more

    • Amazingly good Atmos soundbar for the price

This is a true 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar, with two up-firing speakers in the soundbar itself. And while the subwoofer is hard-wired to the soundbar, the two rear speakers (while plugged in and connected to each other) are not. And the app (and remote) have a lot of useful adjustments (such as the relative strength of the subwoofer, the two up-firing speakers, and the two rear speakers). (And apparently at some point the app was updated, so connecting it to the Ultimea Skywave F40 soundbar is no problem at all.) Importantly, everything sounds clear (speech, etc.), separated when called for, with ample bass. Can you get a better Atmos soundbar? Yes (5.1.4 would have been slightly better—all else equal…). Can you get one for anywhere near the price of the Ultimea? I sincerely doubt it. ... show more

I really wanted to love this set up. I liked the classy look and was excited about the overhead sound but I didn't notice. The sub was weak and vocals are hard to hear. Could be because the space it too open.
