For the past 2.5 years I've been trying every type of mat. This is by far the best one, but it's not perfect for every situation. This is a rubber pad with a veneer of cork that makes it nonslip. It's incredibly comfortable and has enough give that I no longer need to use a knee pad for kneeling positions. It's supplanted a rubber pad with a veneer of PU, which is also great but still required an extra knee pad. It comes with a carrying strap/yoga strap which is nice. My only caveat is that it's heavy and rolls up into a larger roll than simple foam. Personally, I wouldn't want to carry it around. Overall, I think it's fantastic and I look forward to using it for years to come. ... show more

This yoga mat is actually really nice and smooth and I really like the flower designs. I've already used it a few times at the gym and it's good enough. I like that the bottom is super grippy and doesn't move at all when I'm working out or doing my exercises, but unfortunately the top is a little bit slippery. Not terrible, but just a tiny bit. I've absolutely had worse and I feel like this mat is a decent choice if you're looking for something reasonably priced, but if you're wanting something you won't slip AT ALL with while doing the downward-dog, I'd probably go with a different one. Mine was almost missing the carrying strap that was supposed to come with it, so that was kind of a bummer. :( ... show more

This U&M Cork Yoga Mat has the quality I see in higher end mats. It is very well constructed, and the materials are strong and well made. The mat had no strong odor when I opened as some others, I've had in the past have had. The mat isn't as "non-slip" as I'd like to see but for a cork top mat, it is better than I expected. I don't have to use my Yoga Paws on this mat which is nice. The more weight I have on my hands/feet, the less they slide. The mat does seem to stain a bit, but I use mine at home so it's not really an issue for me. This is a heavy duty (and as a result, a heavy) mat and I would not want to be transporting it back and forth to do classes with, but again, I use mine at home only so this isn't an issue for me. I will say that the ends do stay curled if the mat is rolled too tightly but most mats do that from my experience. At the time of my review, the price of this mat is $45, and I feel it's well worth the price! ... show more

Cork mats are so much better than the ones made out of plastic materials. If I'm putting my bare skin on it, I want it to be healthy for my body and the environment. Cork is naturally antimicrobial which is why it's used as wine-stoppers. It won't get moldy even if I forget to air-dry it after a particularly sweaty Bikram session. It's not quite as pretty as I hoped it would be. The design is comprised of very thin, etched lines, and it looks computer-generated instead of organic. But I can live with it.
