Seems to be well built and works very well. I am refurbishing and older trailer and this is much better quality than what I had. Also, if you have ever cranked real hard on a winch with rope so hard that the line pinched itself in the previous layers of rope, you will appreciate having a strap.

I needed to upgrade the winch on my SEADOO trailer as the strap where the hook is connected was starting to unravel from the webbing not being very well sewn. I got this as a replacement, and it fit right where the old one came off without any issues or modifications: installation involves just two screws and bolts. I also like that this winch matches the color of my trailer, not just the plain old silver or galvanized look like many others. The winch strap is heavy duty and long enough to connect to my ski, although it doesn't have to be very long because I put the trailer in far enough that I can just about drive the ski onto the trailer all the way. The gear mechanism is robust and the gears mesh very well when retrieving your ski. The latch which reverses the winch direction works as it should and locks solidly in either direction, making the winch very simple and easy to use. The end where the hook is connected to the strap seems to be well-sewn and should hold up for quite some time. I do recommend loosening the winch strap if you store you're trailer with a ski on it, just so the strap doesn't stay tensioned all the time. For the money, this winch is a good value and will provide you with years of peace of mind that your ski is safely and securely attached to your trailer. Of course, ALWAYS use a safety chain as well, do not depend just on your winch to hold your ski or boat on the trailer! ... show more
