tl,dr. All of the problems that I initially experienced have been resolved. I would absolutely recommend this headset to anyone looking for great sound, and a reasonable price. Make sure that it is fully updated using the turtle beach audio hub on your computer before use. I have included the original review at the bottom for reference. This is a revised review of the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 headset. I received the headset when it released, and it was unusable with the constant cutting out, and disconnects. I returned the headset and purchased a different pair. Turtle Beach contacted me roughly three weeks later and asked if I would like to test out the Stealth 700 with the new firmware updates. They sent me another set, and I installed the updates as requested. This headset is absolutely amazing with the updates. I also have the Stealth 500X and the Elite 800X, and in my opinion, the sound quality of the Stealth 700X is better than both other headsets. Don't get me wrong, the other headsets are great, but I love how these things sound. As far as the issues that previously plagued the headset goes, I have not experienced any of them with the firmware updated. The headset has not disconnected once since I have been trying it out. It has worked flawlessly on both of my Xbox One consoles. Turtle Beach support instructed me to keep the headset as far away from my wireless router as possible, and on the old headset being within 20 feet would make the problem much worse. Now, with the newly updated firmware, the headset operated flawlessly with my Xbox One Elite that is 6 inches from my wireless router. Initially, I kept this headset around for a total of three days before sending it back and purchasing the Elite 800X, and now this is my go-to set whenever I play games. Before, I was not a fan of the simplified button layout on the headset, but I have found that once things are set, I rarely have to go to the app on my phone to adjust them. all of the major functions can be done with via buttons on the headset. like I have said above, the sound is phenomenal. the mic and the noise cancellation both work well. I have tried both Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for the surround, and my untrained ears prefer Sonic over Atmos. It seems to be punchier on the bass, and the spacial awareness seems to be better. ORIGINAL REVIEW "The sound quality is top notch. They sound great, and the superhuman hearing works very well. The quality seems on par with other Turtle Beach headsets that I have owned. Their phone app works well, but it is inconvenient to be forced to use your phone to adjust some of the simple settings that can be adjusted on the headset on most of the other headphones. It seems like they are making the mistake that many companies make when they develop some new novel idea; they force you to use the new technology, and while it may be novel and new, it is not always as easy as it was before. The reason for the two stars and the eventual return of my set was the constant dropping of audio. The audio would cut in and out frequently, and then the headset would completely disconnect from the console and then reconnect in roughly 10 to 20 seconds. I contacted customer support and was given a troubleshooting guide that I ran through with little success. One thing that the troubleshooting guide recommended was making sure that there were no routers or high powered transmitters within 5 feet of the Xbox and headset. I had a wifi repeater that was within that range so I unplugged it, and it definitely helped. The headset went from one disconnect every 3-5 minutes, to one every 10-15 minutes. I also noticed that whenever I used my phone while wearing the headset, I could count on a disconnect within a few seconds. First things first. Plug these into a computer and UPDATE the firmware. Okay, let's go from there. These are comfortable, at least for the first 3 to 4 hours and probably longer for most. I have a bigish head (hat size 7 1/2)and these are pretty nice. There's plenty of room for an even bigger head and they spread out nicely too. They'll fit around a gallon sized paint can, lol! As you pull them farther apart they don't get, like, super tight. They stay loose(ish). Well, not loose. It's just that they don't pinch the head. Plenty of cushion for the top of your head, too. These are the MOST convenient gaming headphones I've EVER used. Because these have an internal, rechargeable battery, there are NO CORDS whatsoever. NONE. Completely wireless! You can just grab your headphones, power them on and chat and play. Nuthin' gets plugged into nuthin'! I LOVE THAT. If you forget to charge the battery when it's low you CAN definitely play while charging and in that case there would be a wire. But only then. I usually plug them in, every other gaming session, when I'm done for the night and let them charge. They're micro USB. I also have not had any connection issues to the XBOX whatsoever. I haven't tried using the Bluetooth feature yet. Mainly because when I'm gaming a couple times a week at night the only people that would call me are already online with me. The chat volume and game volume work well independently of each other. In other turtle beach's if I turned up the game the chat would get louder too and vice versa but seemingly not with these. The superhuman feature does seem to work pretty well. In the predator mission in Wildlands I could totally hear where on the map the predator was and that's fun. You mute the mic, so nobody can hear you, by flipping it up. My friends can hear when I mute it, too though. If you wanted total privacy when muting just be aware that apparently there's a little noise of some kind and they would know they were being muted. So far everything seems pretty great. Why 3 stars? Here's my main problem and it bugs me EVERY SINGLE TIME I USE these. It's the mic or maybe the mic monitoring. The microphone activates when you start to talk, otherwise it's, kinda like, in an off position. I think it might be noise canceling for the people online with me? Anyway, every time I start to talk, and the mic "activates" or "comes on" there is a noticeable delay before I hear myself in the headphones and it is ABSOLUTELY annoying. I hear myself "in the room" probably 2 or 3 tenths of a second before I hear myself in the headphones. Once I'm into the sentence I'm speaking they're fine (actually I'd like to be able to hear myself as loud as I hear my teammates but that's never been the case with Turtle Beach) and when I'm done speaking I don't notice the mic "shut off" so to speak. But, soon as I say something else there's that delay AGAIN. GRRRRR. I used to have the X32 from TB and those were glorious. The mic thing that I'm talking about didn't exist. It was just always on. Never a lag or delay. I hope I've been clear with what my problem is. It's hard to explain by writing about it, you almost have to use them in person to know what I mean. It's a really big deal for me and that's why 3 stars. There's so much to like about these, that's why not less than 3 stars. I would say that if these didn't have the mic issue (for me) they would be THE BEST Gaming headset I've ever used and 5 STARS ALL DAY. If my problem with them doesn't, or wouldn't, bother you I'd say buy these immediately! P.S. The charging cable included with these is the coolest little micro USB I've ever seen. It's contoured to your fingers to more easily pull it out of the headset. I love it. UPDATE!!: Wait a minute! WAIT A MINUTE!!!! I posted this review and 10 minutes later I decided to read the top review for this headset (by J Dog) and he FIXED MY PROBLEM! You go into the Stealth 700 settings when plugged into your computer after downloading the software and follow J Dog's settings guide. Basically, all I had to do was turn OFF the mic gate setting. Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Headset I’m not a person who likes to use headsets when watching movies or playing video games, but I recently had to move into a small apartment and didn’t want to disturb the people who live below me, so I decided to look into headsets for my Xbox One S. To be fair, I’ve only tried out two headsets, the one that Microsoft makes and this one, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700. When I bought the Microsoft headset, I wasn’t impressed with the sound quality at all. The headset looked really nice and felt comfortable on my head, but the set sounded more like average earplugs than a headset designed for movies and videogames. I guess for the price (about $60) the Microsoft headset was decent, but I wanted a headset that sounded a little better. I did some research and came across Turtle Beach. There were a lot of good reviews about their various headsets, and initially I was going to get the Stealth 600, but I decided to take a chance on the 700, and I am glad I did. The Stealth 700 headset has incredible sound. I’ve used it now with video games, Blu-rays, DVDs, and movies from both Netflix and Hulu. The headset adds a level of realism and immersion to games and movies that I’ve never experienced before, even when I used to have an integrated surround-sound system years ago. The headset has separate volume controls for both the mic volume and the movie/game volume. The mic sits discretely on the left side of the headset and makes a little beeping sound whenever it is lowered. The headset is truly wireless and pairs with the Xbox one without any adapters or cables, which I think is great. To pair the headset with your Xbox One, simply press the pairing button on the headset while simultaneously pressing the one on the Xbox One for three seconds until you hear a beeping sound. Make sure the headset has enough power (charges via a supplied USB cable). You can also pair the headset to any smartphone, tablet, or PC via Bluetooth. I also use it with my iPhone 6S Plus to listen to music and listen to the audio from YouTube, and it sounds great even with my phone. I’m sure there are other great headsets out there, but I’m more than satisfied with the Stealth 700. The only thing I don’t love about the headset is its color. It’s mostly black, which is great, but there’s a bright green trim that I think gives it a childish look, but then again, it is designed for video games, so I guess it has to appeal to all ages. I noticed online that the Stealth 700 headset made for the PS4 has a blue trim, and I think that looks a little better, but that’s just my opinion. In any case, I am happy with this headset. Try using them while playing any of the Resident Evil games or The Evil Within games with no lights on at night for a truly great and terrifyingly-immersive experience.

Never having bought headsets for gaming before, I was surprised to find that there is no clear, readily obvious consensus choice as to which brand/model is the "standard best"-- regardless of cost-- as Bose QC15's are (were) for noise cancelling business traveler headphones, for example. Furthermore, every brand and model seems to have an equal number of haters and lovers, making it harder to choose. I hope this review helps the next wavering person make an informed choice...After two weeks of lunch hour google researching I settled on these, and here is the truth-- they are pretty good in general, and for XBox One I think these are probably the best bang for the buck out there at the $120+ price range and above-- even having not compared them personally to others. Reasons I say this (i.e. "the good"): - These have no wires for connecting with the Xbox. None. Chat and sound just connect wirelessly. No intermediate docking/charge/transmitter station needed. Other fancier/more expensive headset options seem to require a docking station that serves as a transmitter base, and even the latest generation SteelSeries 840s and Astro A50's also seem (though hard to confirm definitively even watching youtube reviews) to require a 3.5mm cable between the headset and controller to use the game chat functions. - These have Bluetooth, in addition to the Xbox wireless protocol. You can connect to your phone/laptop, etc. simultaneously via bluetooth as you are connected to the Xbox via microsoft's proprietary wireless protocol for the Xbox. - These have Mic-Monitoring. I'm not much of a chatty gamer-- being middle aged I rarely join groups outside old friends-- but apparently Mic Monitoring is good to have, and these have it. The Razer Thresher Ultimates for Xbox one cost $100 more and don't have mic-monitoring, which is what led me to choose the TurtleBeach 700 Stealth instead. - The game volume and the chat volume wheels are separate. I don't chat much, but I imagine this is important for chat-loving gamers to adjust between conversation and game sense. - The boom mic has an auto-mute feature-- swing it up out of the way and it beeps in your ear to let you know its off. - These have active noise cancellation. To be fair, it sounds nothing at all like the quality of a Bose QC headphone-- in fact, I'm kind of suspicious as to whether its an actual noise cancelling tech, or just a some simulated sound effect that mimics the "sound" of noise cancellation-- but whatever, the Turtle Beach 700 Stealth has it, The others don't. (The $300 Astro A50's advertise a "noise cancelling" parts mod kit you can buy separately, which in fact is just a different type of foam ear pad..) - They are comfortable...comfortable enough. I wear glasses and as I type this, I've had them on for about 3.5 hours and I feel o.k. Again, not a luxury studio monitor quality comfort level-- but comfortable enough to wear for several hours and not hurt or feel overly uncomfortable. - While these do not come with, nor are they compatible with Dolby 7.1, I find the native Windows Sonic to be fine for surround effects, and for $15 you can install Dolby Atmos on the Xbox and these will handle Atmos in addition to the Windows Sonic. (I have not found a great difference between them, but I play on Windows Sonic, as it seems like it works for everything, not just certain content). -Volume is good enough. These don't get super loud, or loud enough to amplify even the tiniest sound-- but they get loud enough to become fully absorbed in the game- possibly loud enough to do a little damage if you listen for too long. (but if so, just barely that strong.) - As for sound quality. Its good. Good enough. I'm partially deaf in one ear, so studio quality would be wasted-- but I think that while the sound quality is not as refined as Bose QC15's, its certainly adequate for first person shooters and the occasional science fiction movie. A little bassy, perhaps. But not overwhelming. Even being deaf in one ear, I can clearly hear which side/direction gunshots are from, which has made playing first person shooters like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds much more enjoyable. The negative: - Build quality feels a little cheap. Headset is not flimsy, but the build quality falls just slightly on the side of "cheap plasticky" vs. "solid"..Perhaps this is by design to keep weight down for comfort reasons, but I wonder if replacement ear pads will be available when these become worn, as the ear-cups do not seem to be designed to be replaceable. - While there is a dedicated "superhuman hearing" button that drops bass and amplifies treble to hear in-game footsteps and the like, there is no button on the headset to turn on "active noise cancellation" . This means that you have to use the companion iOS/Android Turtle Beach App to connect to the headset and enable the noise cancellation feature. - The companion app seems buggy. Out of the box, it seemed like my iphone automatically paired bluetooth with the headset easily-- and the app launched and worked correctly, allowing me to choose between several sound presets, mic volume, and turn on active noise cancellation. However, the next day the app did not recognize that the headset was linked to the phone by bluetooth (despite being able to play music through the headset), and the only way to retry the connection is to close the app entirely and relaunch. Finally, after powering off/on the headset master power switch, the turtle beach app recognized that the headset had a bluetooth connection and the app functions for sound adjustments were available. Other reviewers are correct-- Turtle Beach should not have made the sound tweaking app/functions exclusive to a companion app to install on cell-phones with bluetooth, but should have also made them part of an app that ran on Xbox, similar to how Dolby Atmos settings can be downloaded and set up on the Xbox. As for other reviews that complain about spotty connectivity and crackly/static sounds in one side or the other-- I have not experienced this. Everything worked fine once I remembered where the "enroll" button for accessories was on the Xbox itself. Before playing, I immediately downloaded the firmware update app to my laptop, plugged the headset in by USB cable, and ran the firmware update-- and having done that, they seem to work just fine the first time I connected them to the Xbox. Overall my impression of these is that they have all the main features you would want in a dedicated gaming headset. Having said that, these are gaming headsets with sound quality basically for "kids"-- bassy surround sound. But its not bad. Being designed specifically for the Xbox wireless protocol, they work very well in that application, but that, and BlueTooth, is all they do. It seems even to use with windows 10 will require an Xbox wireless adapter dongle be plugged into your PC. Perhaps SteelSeries sound much better. Perhaps the A50s are more comfortable. Perhaps the Razer Thresher/ Thresher Ultimate not having mic-monitoring is no big deal. But those other options come with equal or much higher price-tags, and/or some degree of wired connection (at least for chat), and I'd be willing to wager they don't sound *that* much better if at all- because these are all gaming rigs, not audiophile headphones. This headset truly is amazing, well done Turtle Beach. I've had plenty of different headsets throughout the years, and can confidently say I believe this one is my favorite so far. I've had turtle beach xo 4's, stealth 500 x's, 420 x's, elite 800x's, and even Astor A50 gen 3's with the charging base. I read a lot of comments when the stealth 700's first came out and definitely afraid to try them. After some time keeping an eye one them and turtle beach making improvements, I decided to give them a shot. i've been using my stealth 500x's for the past couple of years, because quite frankly everything else i've tried has not been as good as them in one way or the other. The 500x's have DTS headphone X surround sound, and I wasn't really sure how the windows sonic surround sound or the dolby atmos would compare. Well to say the least they compared very well to the DTS headphone X. For me personally i found that I like the dolby atmos better(even better than the dts headphone x), although you have to pay for the dolby atmos, while windows sonic is free. I mainly play call of duty and the dolby atmos performs very well for me locating directional ques. After updating the firmware this headset has performed flawlessly for me, not dropping out once, and my router sits only about 3 feet form where my Xbox one X is. This superhuman hearing feature is great for call of duty, the bluetooth has performed flawlessly as well, the new flip up mic form turtle beach is great also. This headset is super comfortable for me as well, and you can also play and charge the headset too with no issues. To end this review I would recommend this headset to anyone looking for a completely wireless surround sound headset for thier Xbox one.

UPDATE 4 (11/09/2017 - 4:00pm PST): Weeks after hearing no response from Turtle Beach after an email I sent off to them alongside returning the headset back to Amazon, I ended up receiving an email from Turtle Beach apologizing about the entire situation. They offered me a free Stealth 700 headset in exchange for direct feedback in regards to firmware updates. Since there was no cost to me involved, I accepted the offer in exchange for giving them some honest and transparent feedback. A lot of my comments from my initial review are still in place. With that being said, the headset is now usable unlike what was sent to market back in September. Prior to my purchase of an Xbox One X earlier in the week, the disconnection issues went away and the intense amount of firmware updates Turtle Beach has sent out to owners has been helping out with audio and voice quality. What's preventing me giving this headset a four-star review (as it will never be five-stars) is I had to completely restore the headset to get it to work properly with my Xbox One X. I've had no issues with my X post that problem, but I'll be keeping an eye out while I continue to send feedback updates to Turtle Beach. I see the price on Amazon is down to $129 which I would say is a decent price point to jump in at, but I'm curious to see how LucidSound's LS35X and other headsets turn out once they are released to the market later this year and in 2018. UPDATE 3 (09/09/2017 - 11:40am PST): I finally received a response from Turtle Beach nearly five days after asking my initial question. Their response? "Please try the repairing the headset and adjust the audio's volume and advise the results." Yeah, I'm never purchasing a Turtle Beach headset ever again. As I said in my last update, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS HEADSET unless you're okay throwing $150 in a dumpster. UPDATE 2 (09/06/2017 - 8:40am PST): Turtle Beach has no problem promoting the Stealth 600/700 across various avenues of social media, but can't answer people who already spent $150 on the headset to why it doesn't work. Sorry Turtle Beach, but I'm not purchasing any of your products ever again. I've already initiated the return with Amazon. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS HEADSET. UPDATE (09/05/2017 - 7:30pm PST): Still no word from Turtle Beach, but I'm dropping down my review to one-star... as my headset is now being plagued by the constant disconnecting issues that other users have commented about. It's connected/disconnected around five times during a ten-minute match in Overwatch. Turtle Beach's lack of response not only to myself, but to other customers, is highly concerning. If there is no response back or ETA for any fix, I will be sending my pair back to Amazon. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I just received my Turtle Beach Stealth 700 for Xbox One this morning. If you have purchased this headset, ensure you update the firmware via the Turtle Beach app as the headset has day one firmware updates. With that being said, here's a few concerns I have. 1. The headset, for being priced at $150, is quite flimsy. It feels like cheap plastic and I feel like they could break easily. Honestly, there should be some sort of case to protect it when not in use (similar to other higher-priced headsets I own), but sadly that is not the case. 2. There have been many complaints via the Xbox One subreddit in regards to connection issues. With that being said, it only took a moment to pair the headset with my Xbox One S. The same thing applies for pairing my iPhone 6s Plus via Bluetooth. A lot of customers have already complained about non-stop disconnects between the headset and their console/Bluetooth-paired device, but I never had any issues with disconnection from either device (Xbox or iPhone). 3. Audio Quality for Bluetooth: It’s not as good as my Jaybird X3s or Beats Studio Wireless, but the sound is serviceable. The concerning thing is the audio does not get “loud” as my Jaybird/Beats. I’ve tried adjusting the volume via both the headset and the iPhone, but it just never gets to the level of loudness I get from my other headsets. 4. Audio Quality for Xbox One/Wifi Direct: Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos both sound great in regards to surround sound emulation, but the audio doesn’t get as “loud” as I expected (per my previous comment). Granted, the sound is louder via wifi than the headset’s Bluetooth functionality, however, its not as loud as previous wired stereo headsets I’ve had plugged into my controllers directly. 5. There's a left buzz/hiss-ing noise coming from the left speaker. This has been a complaint that is constant across all reviews and I can certify that my pair has the issue as well. I don't know if this is a defect with the headset or something that can be improved via firmware, but I've already reached out to Turtle Beach for a follow-up response alongside concerns with the volume. Depending on Turtle Beach's response, I'm on the verge of returning the headset back to Amazon and pre-order another truly wireless headset such as the LucidSound LS35X.

The best gaming headset I’ve ever had. I had a TB elite 800x. Although it is still the flagship model of TB, I didn’t satisfy with it due to its hissing sounds especially when there is no input sounds. It was annoying. However this one, although many people say they experienced disconnections and hissing sounds from the left cup, there was no issue at all. Probably firmware updates fixed almost things. Even my xbox one x is next to my router there is no connection problem. Sound quality is really good, but its volume can be regarded not enough for some people. When I pair the headset with my window10 pc, I noticed that it provides much louder volume. So I can say, it has much potential in terms of its volume. I expect that TB will provide volume control in the next update. If your pc supports Xbox wireless itself or you have an xbox wireless controller adapter for pc, this headset would be the one you should buy. It is so easy to pair both xbox and pc having the adapter and works seamlessly. Last but not least, I want to mention about its glasses friendly earcup. I haven’t experienced such a comfortable headset when I wear my glasses. I had wore the headset for 3~4hours at once, I kept giving me so comfortable experience. I highly recommend this headset. Since I haven’t use this headset without firmware update, I cannot tell you about non-updated version but, if you update it, you’ll be so happy with this headset.

I bought my first pair of headphones (Turtle Beach) with the purchase of the original Xbox One. They were wired. The sound was OK, nothing special, and the voice communication was fairly clear. After quite a bit of use by me and my son, I upgrade to the Turtle Beach XO Seven Pro. I wanted to be able to hear ambient sounds better such as footsteps. This second pair was a disappointment. It was programmable with little to no support. The game/chat sound was horrible and my friends could barely hear me over the hiss these made when speaking into the microphone. Needless to say, I suffered through the experience and gave the original Turtle Beach headphones to my son. He is still using them. Once I purchased the Xbox One X, I was in the market for headphones that had clear chat, excellent ambient sounds, and wireless. I read a review for the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless headphones and ultimately decided to purchase the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Wireless headphones. I am very happy with my purchase. PROS: * Connects wireless to by Xbox One X without the need for any adapters just like by Xbox controller! * Excellent sound (Surround, Superhuman hearing amplifies ambient sound such as footsteps, Independent game and volume chat control) * Crystal clear chat with easy to mute flip up mic * Can connect to my phone via bluetooth NEUTRAL: * Looks - These look great as a gaming headset but not so great walking through the airport, used as a bluetooth headset with my phone CONS: * So far, my only complaint is that these can be a little uncomfortable. OVERALL: At $149.95 (retail), these headphones are well worth it! My son is slowly taking these over because they are so good. Hearing your enemies in Fortnite through the surround sound is very helpful. No wires!!!! UPDATE: I read through the reviews prior to making this purchase. I never had any problems from day one but I DID update the firmware and read all of the instructions prior to using. I suspect not following proper instructions could be one of the main reasons why people are having issues. UPDATE 2 (12/25/2018): These headphones are still going strong! I love them so much that I purchased my son a pair for Christmas. He is almost 18 and loves the crystal clear sound and voice clarity! You cannot go wrong with these, but please make sure you follow the directions and perform the updates. UPDATE 3 (7/2/2019) Both sets of headphones are still going strong! You cannot go wrong with these, in my opinion.
