  • LISTED AS NEW, BUT ACTUALLT USED. DO NOT BUY FROM SELLER.
(TLDR at end) I want to start this by saying sorry for the length of this, I wanted to go into detail a bit in the hopes of helping readers learn some of the ways to check their products (from any seller, not just this one) to make sure they are getting what they ordered. I worked in a video game store for over 5 years, so I have a lot of experience with how headsets are packaged and sold and how their contents are packed. I even received this exact model headset for free from Turtle Beach before, so I know how it comes new in the box. This headset I received today from this seller is not new. First, since this box does not have a flap that has the standard insert to keep it closed it would either be sealed with a transparent sticker or have a plastic wrap to keep it closed. This box arrived with neither, instead coming with 2 white reseal stickers. Those stickers are not standard to factory packaged items and are typically used by third parties or refurbishment centers (see 1st picture). Second, the cables. No matter what item it is, if it's from the manufacturer the cables that come with the item will always be wound either in a neat circular wind or folded like an elongaged oval with a tie wrap. This ensures that it stays neat and presentable when it is initially opened. The cables with this headset were neither, just clearly folded and shoved into the box with the detachable mic (see 3rd picture). Third, this headset has removeable ear pieces so the user can customize it. Those removeable pieces are reflective plastic, and because of the reflectiveness they come with a thin plastic film to protect them from scratches, the kind that you peel off. This headset did not have those and one side actually had faint scratches on the plastic (see 4th picture). (Sidenote, I couldn't get a clear picture of it but it also looked like there was a hair on the inside of one of the earpieces. This could just be a long piece of fabric from the foam padding and be a reasonable explanation so I'm not counting it as a point of evidence, but combined with the other signs of use I see I would be willing to believe it was hair). I actually had to double check the label on the box over the barcode that specified this headset was new, because I thought I had accidently ordered a used version by mistake. I will specify that I don't know if the headset itself works or not, I haven't tried it and I am not going to. Setting aside the fact that I did not order a used headset so I will not be using it, if it is being resold as new I have no guarantee that it's been cleaned or anything. I have seen used consoles trying to be sold to my store with live roaches inside crawling out onto the counter when we would go to test it before buying it (and no, we never accepted anything that even had a suspicion of an infestation). I have seen glue poured into the air vents of a PS4, I have seen tape holding together discs, and so on. I know the weird and disgusting things that people do with their stuff, which is why I always buy new. So despite what this sellers refund policy says, I am returning this and getting my money back. Their policy says that opened items can only be returned if they sre defective, so that raises 2 points for me: 1) You say it can only be refunded if defective, and I say I shouldn't have been sent a used item as if it was new. 2) I can assume, by your own policy, that this product is not just used but also defective since it was clearly used and sent back to you. TLDR: there were several things that stood out to me from my experience selling these types of products in retail indicating this headset was used but sold as new. I would recommend anyone buying from this seller to check their items carefully when they arrive because if this happened once whose to say it can't happen again? Mistakes happen, they can be acceptable when they happen, but not when companies or sellers try to cover them up to save themselves some cost. ... show more

  • Missing parts but good headset
The last thing you want in a product that you've been really waiting for and have had high expectations is missing parts. When I opened this product along with 3 others this was like the main event. When I opened the box I opened it like I spent my life savings on it, this is just to explain how excited I was. When I open the accessories box it drops pc splitter cable and to my suprise, 2 microphones. I thought this was just the company being considerate to the fact that the microphone might die later down the road. But I was wrong, it came with an extra microphone instead of the 3.5 mm cable that I connect to the headset. So I tried to contact customer support but it only gave me the option to return the product. I didn't want to go through the hastle of shipping and waiting days for my money to get put back. So sadly I had to spend some of my another 15 dollars on the cable on the turtle beach website. In conclusion, I cannot fully rate the headset, I did have a cable that worked with the headset but it gave me an echo, audible to the people im talking to. I know that the mix quality is astonishing, it is equal to buying a separate microphone and the headset has pretty high clamping force but it wont get annoying, I let my brother see them and asked him how much he thought they cost, he guessed upwards of 150 dollars, just to explain how premium they feel. I do still like the headset and although I cannot use them for another couple days or so, I still respect the company even after this inconvenience, I would appreciate a message back from the company in hopes of them noticing the issue I had to go through. Update: Its the day after I wrote the original review, the cable came within two days. And now that im using the headset I love it, it doesn't get too loud but I have noticed if I have the vole all the way up, the audio bleeds through the headset and can get picked up through the mic. I still really love the headset and its premium feel, my friends say the microphone sounds better with the new cable. The side of the headset has glossy played that can be remived and swapped for some other ones they sell on their website. The ear cup also comes of and has a small silicone like string that you can pull to adjust some space fo your glasses. ... show more

  • Decent durability but great sound quality
I liked this headset so much that after I broke them the first time after having them only a few months, I repurchased them again. Now after breaking them another time, I have a suspicion it may just be a flaw in durability (there are only 2 screws, wires, and a plastic covering really preventing the headset from snapping in the particular area it has broken twice). But wow. I am tempted to buy these a 3rd time, but for the price I'd expect a more durable product that can last me at least 2 years I feel. I'm torn because this is the most comfortable headset I've worn (I have huge ears, but they fit snug inside the ear cup and don't give me a headache like other headsets do) and it just has amazing sound quality. I game a lot and play many games that require comms and sound (Rainbow Six Siege, Rust, Dead By Daylight, etc) and I can vouch for how reliable these are in terms of sound quality. Sometimes my friends even wonder how I hear some things that they can't. Many people have also complimented the aesthetic of the headset (the removable gloss panels on the side reveal matte finish underneath that looks really cool on camera, especially again flood lights). I have also had strangers in-game say that I "sound like a streamer" LOL It picks up your voice well without carrying out too much white noise, and the noise cancelation is pretty stellar as my fault members do need to be fairly close to me to call for my attention. It's a great product that has great sound quality, great noise cancelation, and is great for gaming. I really really wish I could say the same for the durability though, and it's the one thing that is deterring me from instantly adding it to my cart. Also maybe if it were a bit cheaper haha ... show more
