I was on the fence on this one. Reviews can be hard to filter through and with an item like this, opinions will differ based on the size of the person. I went with the large. I am 5’ 3” and without revealing my weight, which is reasonable and average, I am not skinny. Could I have gone with a medium? Very possibly. But I am happy with the large as it is comfortable and roomy, not snug or tight. All those things said, this is a wonderful robe! It looks nice, it’s a great weight. I didn’t buy it to be super warm or I would have opted for something plush. This is a waffle knit, it’s not supposed to be warm and fuzzy. It’s lightweight and perfect for getting out of the shower until you get dressed. Some people say it’s not absorbent. Is a robe supposed to be absorbent?? That’s not what I use a robe for, that’s what I use a towel for. I did not find the tie to be too short at all, it’s the perfect length. About 13 years ago, I bought a Turkish cotton bath robe from a cruise, and have used it practically every day since. It has gotten tattered and thread-bare and I decided it was time to replace it. I received this robe yesterday, and this morning is the first time wearing it. It's exactly as I hoped it would be! It's lighter than my old robe, but that's OK. I was unsure of the sizing and found helpful readers' comments that it runs large. I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs. I ordered the medium, knowing I could exchange if I needed. The fit is perfect! Fabric is good and robe is lovely but for us petite or short people it is too much fabric in sleeves. Too baggy for a large. Guess i should have gone with medium instead of large. Overall a nice robe for sure.
