    • Make sure the housing bolts are tight...
It charges really well and never skipped a beat, but one week after installation, it started vibrating horribly. The cause of the vibration was due to the housing bolts not being either torqued properly, or the lack of thread locker being applied to the bolts. Also, the front housing bearing was loose and allowed the armature to move back and forth. The company approved a refund with no hesitation, and I did purchase another to replace it. I will be applying thread locker to the bolts, however. ... show more

I installed this alternator in a 1971 Chevy C10 as a single wire alternator with the v-groove pulley. It fits perfectly and works fine. I do have to say that this is the second 140 amp alternator. The first one ended up with a bad regulator. Fortunately it was in warranty and I was provided a replacement without hesitation. This replaced a Tuff Stuff 80 amp alternator which is still working just fine and I will keep it as backup. Lastly, I have a voltmeter in my dash instead of an ammeter and with this alternator the voltage reading does fluctuate where the 80 amp didn't. I don't know if the regulator is more sensitive to the load change or not. So far the fluctuation never drops below 12 volts and always returns to normal once the extra load lessens. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars otherwise I am quite happy with it. ... show more
