It was a challenge for me and took me about 20 hours to complete but I am 82 years old and a bit slower than a 12 year old! It was fun to operate the engine but one thing I spent several hours on was the crank shaft and getting to work smoothly in the engine with the pistons. The video they refer you to on how to assemble the crank shaft is not correct. The correct way to assemble the crank is to make sure both ends of the crank are on the same center line. The video has one end of shaft below the other end of the shaft. It won't work that way. Other than that it is a nice engine and a I had feeling of accomplishment once done. I would be surprised if a 12 year old could put this together in 3 hours as advertised on the box.
